SCOTTSDALE, AZ, February 05, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Karen McGee has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. McGee is a leading authority in providing legal services relating to data protection/privacy, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, serving as Chief Privacy Officer at Levi Strauss & Co. She established the company's first Privacy Program and advanced it to measurable maturity within five years. In her role, she provides strategic counsel to senior leaders, partners with the CISO to safeguard personal and sensitive data, oversees privacy risk mitigation and the incident response program, and drives global compliance strategies. She also supports strategic corporate transactions and serves as the organization's Chief HIPAA Privacy Officer. Committed to building a strong data-responsible culture, she leads training initiatives, hosts privacy-focused events, and guides ongoing upskilling on emerging technologies such as Generative AI. Her regular presentations to the Board's Audit Committee and the Executive Leadership Team further underscore her influence across the organization.

Ms. McGee recently led the development of a cross-functional Generative AI governance structure, establishing working groups and steering committees that brought together diverse stakeholders to evaluate emerging Generative AI use cases. She helped define data and AI operating principles combing both ethical and legal requirements, and designed approval workflows that enable teams to responsibly assess, refine, and advance new Generative AI proposals, supporting innovation, operational efficiency, and improved user experiences.

Ultimately Ms. McGee is most proud of designing practical and "right-sized" data protection programs that reflect the nature of the business, the type of data involved, company objectives and future aspirations while enforcing the concept that privacy-by-design is also a business enabler. Her creative approach incorporates company values and mission statements and role/geography based outreach, making these programs effective for business teams while relatable to consumers and stakeholders.

Prior to joining Levi Strauss & Co., Ms. McGee was Managing Counsel for Privacy Legal at Intel Corporation from 2016 to 2019. During her tenure, she earned recognition for her expertise in ethics and compliance, receiving both the Ethics and Compliance Excellence Award and a Legal Division Recognition Award. Her responsibilities included overseeing global privacy initiatives, serving as part of the Ethics and Compliance Committee, advising on complex regulatory requirements pertaining to new and emerging technologies (including AI), integrating new acquisitions, and supporting data protection issues across Intel's more traditional lines of business.

From 2012 to 2015, Ms. McGee served in a number of roles at the consumer identity theft protection company, LifeLock, where she served as lead Ethics & Compliance Counsel, including directing privacy strategy, during a period of rapid growth in identity protection services and later served as Chief Privacy Officer. From 2013 to 2015, she also served as General Counsel for the LifeLock acquired data science company, ID Analytics, developing their initial in-house legal program, building the internal legal team, and providing broad legal counsel guidance for its suite of data science product offerings.

Ms. McGee's earlier experience includes serving as Associate General Counsel at APL Limited from 2000 to 2012 where she played a pivotal role in helping the global transportation company transition into an e-commerce-enabled organization—a move that required her to pivot from her early career as a maritime litigator into a software, technology, global compliance and data privacy expert.

Ms. McGee's academic background laid a strong foundation for her professional achievements. She earned a Juris Doctor with honors from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1997 after obtaining her Bachelor of Arts major with honors (Phi Beta Kappa) based on an independent thesis she wrote combining American history, ethnic studies, literature and political science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1995. Her education provided her with critical analytical skills and a multidisciplinary perspective that have been invaluable throughout her career.

Her professional excellence has been recognized with several awards, including In-House Legal Adviser of the Year by Women in Law Awards in 2023. Ms. McGee attributes her success to continuously embracing new experiences and opportunities, combining her legal skills with her appreciation of creativity and the arts, and always striving to make personal connections with peers and business clients alike.

Her commitment to continuous learning is reflected in her active participation in industry organizations such as the the International Association of Privacy Professionals, the Association of Corporate Counsel, the Retail Industry Leaders Association, the National Retail Federation, and others. Ms. McGee has also contributed to professional communities as former co-chair of the Phoenix chapter of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and with civic engagement and nonprofit leadership. She has served on the board of directors for Southwest Human Development in Phoenix and currently chairs the Scholarship Committee and Nominating & Governance Committee for the Arizona Dressage Association. She founded the Northern California affiliate chapter of Young Survival Coalition in 2004, and supports the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and the Alzheimer's Association as part of her longstanding commitment to community service.

Ms. McGee enjoys an active personal life that includes competing in the equestrian sport of classical dressage, hiking, and scuba diving. She is dedicated to spending time outdoors in the Southwest with her family, which includes her husband and two sons. Looking ahead, she aims to evolve the understanding of privacy by promoting a larger perspective of data trust as essential for business success in an increasingly complex and digital world, while ensuring responsible and ethical adoption of artificial intelligence. She remains committed to mentoring and supporting other women to embrace professional opportunities with trust in their own authenticity, capabilities and unique strengths.
