In 2024, Mr. Pereira Ruimwyk founded JoseConnect in Hockley, Texas, where he serves as chief executive officer. His responsibilities include hosting and producing the award-winning "Building Resilience" podcasts, hosting the "Lideres Inquebrantable" TV show on Now Media TV, and also serving as executive contributor to Brainz Magazine and The Great Commission Gazette, and conducting C-Suite Group coaching sessions.

In his early roles starting in 1985 in the oil and gas industry in Venezuela, he held leadership roles in the country's most strategic energy projects—Petrolera Ameriven, Petrozuata, Sincor, and Operadora Cerro Negro—and later served as finance director at PDVSA and general manager of Corporación Venezolana del Petróleo (CVP), overseeing 44 joint ventures with international oil companies.

In the U.S since 2012, he served as CFO, president, and iInterim CEO of CITGO Petroleum. A significant milestone in Mr. Pereira Ruimwyk's career was after years as the vice president of finance and CFO; he was appointed as interim chief executive officer of CITGO Petroleum Corporation in Houston in 2017. This achievement marked the culmination of his rise within the oil and gas sector and stands as his most significant accomplishment as an immigrant, leading the sixth-largest refinery in the United States.

Mr. Pereira Ruimwyk is also actively involved with several industry-related organizations and after nearly five years of wrongful imprisonment as part of the Citgo 6 case, Jose became a leading advocate against hostage diplomacy supporting the work of several Washington-based foundations. Since 2025, he has been a board member of the Houston chapter of Conscious Capitalism Inc., promoting ethical business practices and conscious leadership.

Academically, Mr. Pereira Ruimwyk's background has played a pivotal role in shaping his multifaceted career. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in international taxation from the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain and holds a Master of Business Administration in finance from Florida International University, graduating in 1989. He also completed a Bachelor of Arts in industrial administration from Universidad de Oriente in Venezuela in 1985 and a master's degree in the "IESA-Instituto de altos Estudios de Administracion" in Caracas, Venezuela.

Reflecting on his career. Pereira Ruimwyk attributes his accomplishments to God and his family, crediting their support throughout his journey. His experience surviving a hostage situation profoundly influenced his outlook on life and now serves as a source of motivation for others.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Mr. Pereira Ruimwyk is deeply committed to civic engagement and humanitarian causes. In 2025, he founded Angels Helping in Earth, where he serves as chairman. The nonprofit focuses on four core pillars: trauma recovery for the Hispanic community—beginning locally with plans for national expansion—legal assistance for aspiring entrepreneurs through pro-bono services provided by attorneys, training programs emphasizing both personal leadership and integration into American society and food drives addressing immediate community needs. The trauma recovery initiative is particularly close to Mr. Pereira Ruimwyk's heart due to his own experiences; he collaborates with a recognized trauma expert to offer seminars, training sessions and one-on-one consultations pro-bono.

Mr. Pereira Ruimwyk also serves as goodwill ambassador and human rights defender for the Latin American Institute of Higher Studies in Human Rights in Venezuela. He has also been a member of the speaker's bureau for C-Suite for Christ since 2024. He is active in his church, "Intimidad con Dios," serving in several ministries, and he also began serving on the board of Greenway International Foundation Inc. that year. His collaborative efforts extend to Bring Our Family Home since 2022 and Scouts Venezuela.

Recently Mr. Pereira Ruimwyk was included in the list of "Top Latinos" who is who for his outstanding contributions and advancing the culture and success of the American Latino professional and business community.
