FOSTER CITY, CA, February 13, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Prasun G. Chemmeri has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Chemmeri has established himself as a leading expert in vehicle manufacturing engineering, with a career spanning more than two decades and marked by significant achievements in the automotive industry. His current role as Staff Manufacturing Engineer at Tesla places him at the forefront of innovation, where he is deeply involved in the design and launch of next-generation vehicles. In this capacity, Mr. Chemmeri works closely with design teams to ensure manufacturability at high volumes, leveraging his technical expertise to integrate essential manufacturing features into product designs. He regularly travels to Tesla factories globally and collaborates with international vendors to assess technical proposals, review production line designs, and evaluate financial assumptions to meet internal budgets. His responsibilities include finalizing production plans, defining automation requirements, supporting material flow design, and overseeing assembly-line output throughout the process before transitioning the line to operations.
A hallmark of Mr. Chemmeri's approach is his hands-on management of vendor relationships, which typically span several months. He reviews the engineering design of production lines, including tooling before shipment, coordinates equipment logistics to factories, and ensures projects adhere to strict timelines through daily progress reviews and problem resolution on the floor. He manages assembly builds, conducts quality checks alongside Tesla's quality team, and validates that all parts meet dimensional specifications for vehicle assembly. He provides regular project updates to leadership, highlighting top issues affecting production line builds and proposing multiple mitigation plans. Once production lines meet quality, cycle time, and throughput standards, he transitions validated lines to the operations team and continues to support their ongoing performance for an extended period post-launch. Mr. Chemmeri is also responsible for hiring and training production personnel capable of maintaining these high standards.
Currently, Mr. Chemmeri is part of a select group of manufacturing engineers working on Tesla's future vehicle programs, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the successful launch of the next generation of vehicles. His recent work includes serving as one of the key leads for the setup of Tesla's Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany; supporting the launch of Tesla's Gigafactory in Austin, Texas; overseeing the initial Design for Manufacturing of the Cybertruck program in Texas; and contributing to the Design for Manufacturing of Tesla's planned robotaxi vehicle.
From 2014 to 2019, Mr. Chemmeri served as Senior Manufacturing Engineer in vehicle manufacturing at Tesla, playing a pivotal role in developing the Model X, Model 3, and Model Y programs at the Fremont factory. He provided daily updates on production lines, identified critical issues, and proposed innovative solutions—an experience he regards as transformative in his career. A defining moment was working directly with Elon Musk on the factory floor during the launch of the Model 3, particularly during the widely recognized "production hell." During this period, Mr. Chemmeri worked relentlessly for extended hours in an extremely demanding environment, accelerating his technical growth and engineering maturity. This hands-on collaboration directly led to his recent patent application, which reduced cycle/takt time in the assembly process by 50%, exemplifying his commitment to first-principles reasoning and practical problem-solving.
His contributions to Tesla's global expansion have also been significant. He was part of the core team that established Tesla's first Gigafactory in China, working closely with construction and facilities teams from the earliest stages. He later supported simultaneous launches in Berlin and Texas, frequently traveling between locations to transfer knowledge and best practices, even amid COVID-19 travel restrictions. His critical role earned him a National Interest Exception from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, allowing continued transatlantic travel when most visa holders were restricted.
Prior to joining Tesla, Mr. Chemmeri worked as a Manufacturing Engineering Consultant at American Honda Motor Company, Inc., in the United States from 2011 to 2014, collaborating on feasibility studies for new model launches and capacity expansions.
His early career began at L&T Technology Services Limited in India (2006–2014), where he advanced from Project Leader in Manufacturing Engineering to Business Development Manager for Manufacturing Engineering Services (2010–2011). He managed projects with major OEMs, including BMW and Volkswagen, focusing on evaluating new model introductions at existing factories using simulation software to analyze robot and tooling access requirements. Mr. Chemmeri began his professional journey as a Site In-Charge at Essar Oil Limited (2005–2006).
In addition to his primary career, Mr. Chemmeri has expanded his impact through strategic investments in early-stage companies. Since 2025, he has been a seed investor with Inflection Point Ventures; since 2022, an investor in Boteco BV; and since 2021, an investor in Boteco Restaurants Private Limited.
Among his most significant professional milestones is receiving the EB-1A visa, commonly known as the "Einstein Visa," awarded to individuals with extraordinary ability based on their extensive experience and contributions to global manufacturing standards at Tesla. He developed core specifications now used worldwide for every factory launch.
Mr. Chemmeri holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (2005) from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India. His academic foundation has underpinned his success across multiple continents and complex engineering environments. He attributes his achievements not only to formal education but also to a philosophy centered on action over perfectionism, addressing challenges directly rather than waiting for ideal conditions or relying on hierarchical structures.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Chemmeri is committed to civic engagement and philanthropy. He was a donor to Save the Children from 2023 to 2025 and previously sponsored children through Children International (2018–2023) and World Vision Inc. (2008–2017). He also volunteered with Stand for Trees (2016–2020) and, earlier, served as Placement Coordinator for the Faculty of Technology and Engineering at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2005.
His excellence has been recognized through various awards received during his tenure at Tesla.
In his personal life, Mr. Chemmeri enjoys exploring new restaurants and culinary cultures, and he actively supports his son, who is passionate about table tennis. Looking ahead, he plans to continue investing in early-stage startups, primarily in India, providing both funding and mentorship, while supporting student innovation groups developing prototypes at colleges across India. He also intends to focus more on supporting mid-sized companies, spending time with his son, mentoring others, and fostering long-term investments centered on family values, community engagement, and sustainable growth.
Mr. Chemmeri's career reflects a rare combination of technical mastery, visionary leadership, global perspective, civic responsibility, and unwavering dedication—qualities that have earned him distinction among peers in vehicle manufacturing engineering worldwide.
