LEXINGTON, SC, February 13, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Christopher Bennett has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Bennett has established a distinguished career in the food service industry, most notably as the vice president of catering and events at Maurice's Piggie Park BBQ, a role he has held since 2013. He collaborates with other family members to oversee all aspects of catering operations with a range of projects and business initiatives as well as the development of marketing and advertising strategies.

Under the family's leadership, the company has become renowned for its all-wood barbecue, signature golden sauce, and robust catering services. He is particularly proud of redefining the business by refocusing on its Southern barbecue roots, which has led to growing national demand, with clients requesting his barbecue across the United States. The family has also played a pivotal role in expanding the company to eight locations, with one currently undergoing renovations, and maintaining a strong reputation for quality burgers and brisket.

Maurice's Piggie Park BBQ has been the main talking point at the hundreds of weddings they have catered at locations such as Folly Beach, in the Hendersonville and North Georgia mountains, at venues with 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in the background, at Lake Murray, the State Museum, the Governor's Mansion, and countless local venues, homes, and churches.

Mr. Bennett and his crew have also served over 2,000 pounds of pork at hangar events to full-scale air shows at Fort Jackson, Shaw Air Force Base, and Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort.

During the holidays, they can be found at the State Museum where three separate food and beverage buffet stations are stationed throughout the building, allowing guests to flow comfortably while enjoying the event.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Mr. Bennett has had the privilege of serving the USC Swim Team and their summer camps, as well as catering a wide range of events across both the Columbia and Aiken campuses. From late-night sorority and fraternity events to formals, parties, and campus gatherings, each event brings something unique.

A lifelong baseball player and fan, Mr. Bennett has provided catering and barbecue services to the Augusta GreenJackets for more than a decade. They also support local baseball programs, including Lexington, Chapin, and BC High Schools, the Lexington County Blowfish, and the Dixie Youth World Series when it's hosted locally.

For ten years, they catered the Kohler Family Picnic in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, serving more than 7,500 guests over a single July weekend, nearly 1,000 miles from home. Maurice's Piggie Park BBQ also catered large-scale company picnics in Hattiesburg, MS; Fort Wayne, IN; Atlanta, GA; Richmond and Dublin, VA; Fayetteville, NC; Jacksonville, FL; and Auburn and Dothan, AL. Earlier in his career, Mr. Bennett gained valuable experience as an intern at WIS-TV from 2004 to 2005, where he developed skills in media relations and event coordination. During this period, he also worked as events staff at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, contributing to large-scale event planning and execution.

Mr. Bennett's introduction to catering began at a Meals on Wheels fundraising event at Rockefeller Center Plaza in New York City, where the company served their world famous pulled pork and BBQ Sauce to crowds of attendees. This milestone marked the beginning of his catering journey and set the foundation for his ongoing involvement with charitable organizations. Over time, he has returned to this event and built a strong reputation within the catering industry.

Committed to industry advancement and local business development, Mr. Bennett has been an active member of the Greater Cayce West Columbia Chamber of Commerce since 2015. Through his involvement, he has supported initiatives that promote small business growth, workforce development and community engagement.

Mr. Bennett's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in marketing, business and education from the University of South Carolina in 2007. In addition to his formal education, he holds a ServSafe® certification, underscoring his commitment to food safety standards.

The influence of family has been central throughout Mr. Bennett's life and career. His grandfather Maurice founded Maurice's Piggie Park BBQ in 1953, inspiring Mr. Bennett to join the family business at an early age by "throwing wood," a critical element of their all-wood cooking process, to one of the stores, in 1999. His father is a retired teacher from Lexington High School, and his mother holds a degree in education, both serving as role models for community involvement and lifelong learning.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. Bennett attributes his success to the support of exceptional people who have contributed to building the business and emphasizes patience as a key value. He believes that learning to separate work concerns from personal life allows for reflection and renewed focus.

As a result of his dedication to quality and excellence, Mr. Bennett's professional achievements have been recognized with several awards, including Best in the Lexington Market by Lexington Life Magazine, as well as Best Barbecue, Best Caterer and Best Southern Cooking.

Civic engagement remains an important aspect of Mr. Bennett's life. He volunteers for fundraisers supporting various schools, including Lexington High School baseball and athletics department, as well as local food banks. His ongoing involvement with Meals on Wheels reflects his dedication to addressing community needs through charitable service. Mr. Bennett's commitment to community engagement is evident in his support for local fundraisers and job-creation efforts, which have had a positive economic impact on the region.

Mr. Bennett and his company remain deeply committed to supporting and positively impacting their community. He aspires to continue helping others, believing that food has a unique ability to bring people together during celebrations and meaningful moments in their lives. Through its dedication to quality, service and community involvement, the company strives to spread positivity and become a valued part of its customers' most memorable experiences.

Looking ahead, Mr. Bennett plans for the company to construct a larger, modern facility that will enhance barbecue production with updated equipment, improving both production and office operations. The destruction of their primary facility by fire prompted these plans for expansion and modernization while maintaining a strong commitment to quality and community values. As new opportunities arise, Mr. Bennett remains focused on faith, family and community as guiding principles for future growth.
