NORTH SMITHFIELD, RI, February 18, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Suzanne E. Scott, DVM, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having dedicated her professional life to caring for animals in need, Dr. Scott currently serves as the business owner and head veterinarian of Slatersville Veterinary Clinic, LLC, where she continues to serve families and animals throughout her community. In this capacity, she is responsible for managing the clinic's operations, performing surgical procedures, conducting routine animal health examinations and diagnosing and treating illnesses to bring animals back to full health. Under her leadership, Slatersville Veterinary Clinic has been recognized as the number one ranked veterinary practice in North Smithfield, Rhode Island.

Dr. Scott's approach to veterinary care is distinguished by her unwavering commitment to animal welfare and clear client communication. She consistently seeks affordable solutions for pet owners facing financial hardship and has refused to perform convenience euthanasia, instead using her own resources to treat and rehabilitate animals that might otherwise have been lost. Several cats whose lives she personally saved have become hospital companions or found new homes, reflecting her deep compassion and prioritization of animal well-being.

Prior to assuming her leadership roles at Slatersville Veterinary Clinic, Dr. Scott spent more than 15 years as a veterinarian at West Greenwich Animal Hospital from 2006 to 2022. During her tenure, she developed extensive clinical expertise and built lasting relationships with colleagues as well as clients and their pets. Her decision to join West Greenwich was influenced by the advice of a board-certified surgeon who recognized the instability of her previous workplace and encouraged her to seek new opportunities. She interviewed for the position while newly pregnant with her first daughter, demonstrating transparency about her need for maternity leave — a testament to her integrity and professionalism.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Scott gained valuable experience at other practices following the completion of her formal education. At her first hospital she was mentored by 10 more experienced veterinarians learning many diverse skills. She then managed a secondary location almost independently for about a year, effectively running her own practice early on. This formative period provided her with critical hands-on knowledge of both clinical care and practice management.

Committed to ongoing professional development and engagement within the veterinary community, Dr. Scott maintains professional affiliations with the American Veterinary Medicine Association as well as the Rhode Island Veterinary Medicine Association.

Before venturing onto her vocational path, Dr. Scott pursued higher education and earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine — where she was also formally certified to practice — in 2004 as well as a Bachelor of Arts in biology from the University of Virginia (UVA) in 2000. Determined to make an impact outside the classroom as well, she was an active member of the Delta Zeta sorority throughout her time at UVA and earlier served as team captain of her tennis and volleyball teams, while also swimming on competitive swim teams and working summers as a lifeguard, in addition to being a member of competitive swimming and diving teams. Other sports she has participated in include basketball and soccer.

Along with her education, Dr. Scott attributes her success to unyielding motivation and determination; once she sets a goal, she pursues it with full focus until it is achieved. When establishing Slatersville Veterinary Clinic, she balanced the responsibilities of her previous job while dedicating her nights to completing paperwork, securing loans and establishing vendor accounts.

Dr. Scott's inspiration to pursue veterinary medicine began during her childhood after she and her family moved to Texas. In their new neighborhood, animals roamed freely and two stray cats adopted by her family became beloved companions. As an only child with no relatives nearby, animals became her closest friends and source of comfort. She often played "veterinarian" with her friends — always taking on the role of doctor — which solidified her calling to the profession.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Scott is civically engaged in her community, sponsoring local events, such as the Northman 5K, local sports teams, and music education programs, as well as paying to have multiple surgeries on several young cats with urinary obstructions (where they are not able to urinate and would have died) as the owners could not afford to pay for the expenses associated with this condition. This further demonstrates her dedication to helping those in need outside of her professional obligations. She plans to donate to the non-profit clinic, Love Is Life, that helped make some of these surgeries possible for a young, friendly cat that would otherwise have died. He has now become a wonderful new addition to their live-in hospital cats and serve as their constant companions.

Happily married to her spouse Josh and a proud mother of three children — Samantha, Evan and Allie — she finds joy in attending her children's chorus concerts, track meets and volleyball games as well as reading, hiking and taking the family dogs for walks.

Determined to further her impact in the coming years, Dr. Scott aims to expand her practice by hiring additional associates — including those she can mentor as well as experienced veterinarians capable of handling urgent cases and surgeries — to build a team with diverse skills such as expertise in exotics and alternative treatments like acupuncture. She envisions opening a secondary location in a more open area and eventually establishing a small practice in Hawaii that she could oversee part-time.

To support this growth, Dr. Scott plans to rely on trusted long-term staff for management responsibilities while continuing to see patients herself, thus strengthening Slatersville Veterinary Clinic, broadening its services and creating sustainable leadership and animal care long into the future.
