LOS ANGELES, CA, February 19, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Sri Lanka American Association of Southern California honored L. Ron Hubbard during its Independence Day celebration at the Church of Scientology of the Valley. Following a joyous cultural program, the board and members of the Association came together on stage to present a special recognition honoring L. Ron Hubbard.
The evening celebrated the essence of Sri Lankan culture—a warm, inclusive, and caring community extending its hand in friendship and support to all.
For the past nine years, this Association has partnered with the Church of Scientology of the Valley where it has held 25 cultural events for the Sri Lankan community. The Association was founded over 50 years ago with the purpose of fostering a spirit of fellowship and unity among members of the Sri Lankan community in Southern California, and to preserve their unique cultural heritage.
Through this partnership, the board and members of the Association have come to learn about the life and legacy of Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard, and his groundbreaking work in education and literacy, drug rehabilitation, and criminal reform.
Mr. Hubbard's developments in these fields have brought literacy to millions in the United States and abroad, permanently freed hundreds of thousands from substance abuse, and restored trust and honesty in communities around the globe.
In his 1965 article titled My Philosophy, L. Ron Hubbard stated: "So my own philosophy is that one should share what wisdom he has, one should help others to help themselves and one should keep going despite heavy weather, for there is always a calm ahead."
The evening concluded with the presentation of a recognition in honor of L. Ron Hubbard, presented on stage by the president and board members of the Sri Lanka American Association of Southern California.
In its 2015 Collector's Edition, Smithsonian Magazine featured L. Ron Hubbard as one of the 100 most significant Americans of all time and among the 11 most influential religious figures in American history.
Described as a man who lived 20 lifetimes in the span of one, he was a best-selling author who holds the Guinness World Record for the most published works by one author. His extraordinary discoveries on the human mind and spirit led to his founding of Scientology—the world's youngest major religion and the only major religion with the voice of its Founder intact, recorded in public lectures delivered over the course of a quarter-century.
L. Ron Hubbard: In His Own Voice is a Scientology Network original series of autobiographical vignettes of Mr. Hubbard in his own words and his own voice. You can watch it on the Scientology Network on DIRECTV Channel 320, DIRECTV STREAM, AT&T U-Verse, and streaming at Scientology.tv, on mobile apps, and via the Android, iOS, Roku, Amazon Fire, and Apple TV platforms.
