Concurrently, Mr. Ohlemeyer has contributed to legal education as an adjunct professor and lecturer in law at Columbia University Law School since 2002 and at the University of Missouri since 2023. Additionally, between 2008 and 2023, he was a partner at Boies, Schiller and Flexner LLP, where he handled high-profile litigation matters and further honed his skills in complex commercial disputes. Before joining BSF, Mr. Ohlemeyer served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Altria Group Inc., overseeing litigation strategy and managing litigation across Altria's operating companies.
Mr. Ohlemeyer began his career at Shook, Hardy and Bacon LLP, first as an associate and later as a partner, between 1987 and 1999, where he developed a strong foundation in trial advocacy and litigation management. His early professional experience includes judicial clerkships with Chief United States District Judge Scott O. Wright of the Western District of Missouri from 1985 to 1987 and United States District Judge Russell Clark of the Western District of Missouri from 1984 to 1985. These clerkships provided Mr. Ohlemeyer with invaluable insights into judicial processes and legal reasoning.
Exceptional academic credentials further define Mr. Ohlemeyer's presence in the field and include a Bachelor of Science in business administration, with a focus on marketing, from the University of Missouri, completed in 1981. Subsequently, he earned a Juris Doctor cum laude from the School of Law at the University of Missouri in 1984. Mr. Ohlemeyer is admitted to practice law in New York, Missouri and Kansas; is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers; and is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
Mr. Ohlemeyer's many meaningful accomplishments have been acknowledged with several honors, including induction into The Law Dragon Hall of Fame by Lawdragon Inc., distinguished alumni awards from the University of Missouri and a Citation of Merit for service to the Law School. He credits his professional success to the mentorship he received throughout his career, the opportunities provided by his mentors and clients, and the patience and fortitude demonstrated by his clients. Additionally, Mr. Ohlemeyer credits curiosity and a commitment to lifelong learning.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Ohlemeyer held a seat on the Board of Governors for The Little Orchestra Society in New York City from 2002-2018 and was appointed its president from 2008 to 2017. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees at Greenwich Country Day School from 2010 to 2017 and chaired its buildings and grounds committee from 2014 to 2017. Prompted by a dedication to best practices in the industry, Mr. Ohlemeyer also supports and volunteers for law school initiatives in Missouri.
