"I learned by watching my grandmother," Bell said. "I was in sixth grade, and she showed me how it was done. That's how I got my start."

Initially, Bell entered the health and wellness field as a medical assistant, but in her spare time, she continued to practice the braiding techniques her grandmother taught her. Several years ago, she decided to follow her dream of working with hair full time, and finally took the plunge by making a career of it.

"This isn't a job for me," Bell said. "I enjoy what I do, and it's more of a passion. When I see the results of my hard work, and the wonderful feeling my clients experience when they have a new look, it's easy to see I'm doing the right thing."

Bell puts a strong emphasis on healthy hair before she starts braiding, which is why she includes shampoo and conditioner for her clients with every braiding service.
