From 2009 to 2016, Dr. Mili was a medical epidemiologist in the Division of Blood Disorders at the CDC, where she advanced research on genetic and chronic diseases. During this period, from 2009 to 2014, she also mentored professionals in epidemiology and biostatistics, further demonstrating her commitment to education and workforce development.

Dr. Mili's earlier roles included serving as a lecturer in the departments of medicine and preventive medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine in 1998, where she shared her expertise with future health care professionals. From 1993 to 1994, she lectured in the department of epidemiology at Emory University, following her experience as a graduate teaching assistant in epidemiology and biostatistics on campus between 1992 and 1994. Dr. Mili also taught an epidemiology-in-action course for the CDC in 1992.

Among her foundational experiences, Dr. Mili was an Epidemic Intelligence Service officer in the division of congenital disabilities and genetic diseases at the CDC from 1989 to 1991. Subsequently, she instructed the Epidemic Intelligence Service Summer Course in 1991, contributing to the training of future leaders in public health.

Dr. Mili's educational background is foundational to her success. Her academic journey began with a Baccalaureate Diploma from the Academy of Grenoble, France, in 1973, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, in 1981. Continuing her studies, Dr. Mili received a Master of Public Health in epidemiology from Emory University in Atlanta in 1989, completed coursework for a postdoctoral epidemiology fellowship through the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the CDC between 1989 and 1991, and earned a Doctor of Philosophy in epidemiology from Emory University in 1997.

Active in her professional sphere, Dr. Mili is a member of organizations such as the Epidemic Intelligence Service Alumni Association, the CDC Employee Association of Emory Alumni, and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors. These affiliations reflect her ongoing commitment to advancing public health practice. Dr. Mili's civic engagement is equally impressive, dating back to the 1990s. She has served in various leadership roles, represented students on committees during her academic tenure, supported organizations such as National Public Radio, and has been a member and technical expert on the PEPFAR Interagency Collaborative for Program Improvement Working Group since 2019.

Dr. Mili's prolific scholarly output includes numerous peer-reviewed publications, two book chapters in widely respected medical textbooks, and presentations at national and international scientific meetings. Her most notable achievements included her research contributions and published articles, key metrics by which researchers in her field are evaluated. Dr. Mili's outstanding contributions have been recognized through numerous awards, including an Early Career Author Award from the Research Triangle Institute in 2004, and Excellence in Emergency Response Toby Merlin Awards and Excellence in Epidemiology from the CDC, both received in 2021.
