LOUISVILLE, KY, March 10, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lauren M. Boden, MD, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Boden, an accomplished orthopedic spine surgeon, currently serves as assistant professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, a position she has held since 2024. In this capacity, she is responsible for a broad range of clinical and academic duties, including preparing cases and clinics, providing patient care, teaching medical students and residents, leading journal clubs and educational extracurricular activities, participating in grand rounds and delivering formal lectures to groups of 25 to 40 students. She also offers individualized instruction, fostering the next generation of medical professionals. Dr. Boden takes particular pride in her teaching and mentorship, striving to make a positive impact on her students and colleagues with the hope that they will continue to care for others throughout their careers.

Prior to her current appointment, Dr. Boden completed a spine surgery fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic from 2023 to 2024. During this period, she further refined her expertise in orthopedic spine surgery, contributing to research initiatives and expanding her clinical acumen in complex spinal procedures.

From 2018 to 2023, Dr. Boden served as an orthopedic surgery resident at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where she was selected to be one of the inaugural Wharton Penn Orthopedic Leadership Fellows. This rigorous training provided her with comprehensive experience in surgical techniques and patient management across a wide spectrum of orthopedic conditions.

Her academic background is distinguished by a series of notable achievements. Dr. Boden earned her spine surgery fellowship from Cleveland Clinic Alumni Association in 2024 after completing an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania in 2023. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta in 2018 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Pomona College in Claremont, California, awarded in 2014. Notably, she broke her own record for the fastest baseball pitch by a female while in college, reaching 69 miles per hour in 2013. She also holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest baseball pitch by a female, set in 2008.

Dr. Boden's professional affiliations include membership on the membership committee of the Lumbar Spine Research Society as well as active involvement with the Eastern Orthopedic Association, the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society and the J. Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society.

Dr. Boden's research contributions are extensive. She is co-author of several articles, including "Characterizing Post-Operative ICU Admission after Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy Surgery," published in Clinical Neurology Neurosurgery; "Complications and Cost in Open Versus Endoscopic Lumbar Decompression: A Database Study," featured in Clinical Spine Surgery; "Mindfulness Applications: Can They Serve as a Stress, Anxiety, and Burnout Reduction Tool in Orthopaedic Surgery Training? A Randomized Control Trial," published by The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery; "A Simple Surgical Mask Modification to Pass N95 Respirator-Equivalent Fit Testing Standards During the COVID-19 Pandemic," published by PLoS One; and "Arthroscopic Diagnosis of Occult Posterolateral Meniscocapsular Separations: Another Hidden Lesion," featured in Arthroscopic Sports Medicine Rehabilitation.

Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Boden is committed to civic engagement and advocacy for women's sports. She volunteers with various organizations supporting women's baseball and has played an instrumental role in starting women's baseball teams.

Her dedication to service has been recognized with honors such as the Girl Scout Gold Award from Girl Scouts of the USA in 2011. Dr. Boden credits her success to the values instilled by her parents—both physicians—who emphasized goal setting, perseverance and resilience. Inspired by her family's legacy in medicine spanning multiple generations, she decided at age 12 to pursue medicine rather than professional baseball.

Born in Cleveland and raised in Atlanta, Dr. Boden is one of five siblings; she is a triplet with two sisters Stephanie and Allison, who are orthopedic surgeons specializing in sports medicine surgery and foot and ankle surgery. Her younger sister Susanne Boden is also an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr. Boden's younger brother is studying for his MBA from Wharton in Philadelphia. As a standout athlete during her youth, she played baseball through high school, participated in United States women's national team development programs and competed at high levels in baseball, golf and basketball before focusing on softball and golf at Pomona College.

Looking ahead, Dr. Boden aspires to establish herself as a trusted surgeon within her community while providing exemplary care for patients and serving as a role model for trainees. She aims to develop facilities that attract aspiring surgeons from across the country and remains dedicated to advancing women's baseball so that future athletes may surpass her own records.
