Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Riva has established a distinguished reputation in the art world, marked by entrepreneurial vision and a deep expertise in American artists. As the founder of the Charles Riva Collection, he has continued to shape the contemporary art landscape through innovative initiatives, public exhibitions, and strategic acquisitions. In this capacity, he manages guarantees and related aspects of art purchases, primarily acquiring works at auction. Mr. Riva also oversees an art fund and maintains a private collection that is accessible to the public by invitation only.

In 1998, he opened his first art gallery, the Riva Gallery in New York City, starting his professional career as an art dealer, advisor, and curator. This domestic venture forged the foundation for his subsequent successes and provided invaluable experience in navigating the complexities of the global art market. From 2002 to 2008, Mr. Riva owned a contemporary art gallery called Sutton Lane, expanding his influence across major cultural capitals. During this period, he operated galleries in Paris and in London, participating in many of the world's most renowned art fairs. Notably, through his leadership and curitorial vision with Sutton Lane, he solidified a reputation as a prominent figure in the international gallery scene. In 2008, Riva decided to shift from the gallery model and he began to focus on his own Collection.

In 2009, Mr. Riva proudly launched the Charles Riva Collection, through which he curates significant exhibitions and fosters collaborations with leading figures in design and architecture. Riva displays a selection of artworks from his private collection to the public on a rotating basis.

Major and noteworthy exhibitions at the Charles Riva Collection include "The Power and the Glory", held in 2016, which tackled the political landscape of power in anticipation of the impending American presidency. In 2019, his exhibition "Sun Women", curated by Jérôme Neutres, showcased artists like Louise Bourgeois and Lee Krasner, dealing with gender categorization of female artists. Among his most notable achievements is organizing the group exhibition "Made in New York", a dynamic group show highlighting the zeitgist of the contemporary scene in New York City. This exhibition had a profound impact on the European art community, as it highlighted works by eight contemporary American artists working in New York City. Additionally, in 2018, Mr. Riva presented an acclaimed "George Condo" solo exhibition, and partnered with Rolls-Royce on a special project, further demonstrating his enduring commitment to innovation in the arts. Since 2022 Riva partnered with Parisian gallerist François Laffanour to present the exhibition "LEVEL"; presenting modern and contemporary design alongside contemporary art from the Charles Riva Collection. In 2024 Riva collaborated with Steve Wynn's artistic enterprise, located in Palm Beach, Florida.

Throughout his professional journey, Mr. Riva has demonstrated positivity, a signature perseverance and a willingness to embrace challenging projects, which he acknowledges as essential to his advancement. Additionally, he remains passionate about civic engagement and is a proud sponsor of UNICEF, as well as the Make-A-Wish Foundation. To achieve balance, he enjoys collecting old lighters, evidence of his passion for history and craftsmanship, and Mr. Riva thrives on trading.

Looking toward the future, Mr. Riva intends to advise on significant collections, deepen his involvement in the art market and develop additional exhibitions with the aspiration of establishing an institution. Additionally, Mr. Riva will become a trustee of the Beaux-Arts Museum in Belgium, further reflecting his unwavering dedication to advancing cultural institutions and fostering artistic dialogue on an international scale.
