CINCINNATI, OH, March 12, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Holly Adams, Republican candidate for Ohio's First Congressional District, today unveiled a comprehensive energy plan designed to lower gas prices for working families and restore American energy independence, saying recent instability in the Middle East shows why the United States must never rely on foreign energy.
Adams said the urgency of restoring American energy production has been reinforced by recent Iranian attacks on oil refineries in the Middle East and threats by Iran to close the Strait of Hormuz during Operation Epic Fury, a critical global shipping lane through which a significant portion of the world's oil supply passes.
"When hostile regimes can threaten the world's energy supply overnight, it proves exactly why America must produce its own energy," said Adams. "Energy independence isn't just an economic issue—it's a national security issue. The stronger America's energy production is, the weaker rogue regimes like Iran become."
"Families in Southwest Ohio are paying far too much at the pump because Washington politicians like Greg Landsmna have declared war on American energy," said Adams. "My plan will unleash American energy production, eliminate unnecessary taxes on fuel, and put consumers—not bureaucrats—first."
Adams' energy plan includes:
• Eliminating the federal gas tax to provide immediate relief to drivers and businesses struggling with high fuel costs.
• Opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and other federal lands to responsible energy production.
• Restarting and expanding major pipeline projects, including the Keystone pipeline, which was cancelled by President Joe Biden on his first day in office.
• Ending restrictions on oil and gas leasing on federal lands and offshore areas to dramatically increase domestic supply.
• Streamlining permits for refineries and energy infrastructure to ensure America can produce, refine, and distribute its own energy.
• Supporting an all-of-the-above American energy strategy that prioritizes affordability, reliability, and national security.
Adams pointed to a series of decisions by the Biden administration that she said directly contributed to rising energy costs, including the January 2021 suspension of new oil and gas leasing on federal lands and waters, as well as the 2023 cancellation of the remaining oil and gas leases in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
"Instead of standing up for Ohio families, Greg Landsman supported these policies and has backed the radical Green New Deal agenda that would cripple American energy production," Adams said. "These policies don't just hurt our economy—they make America more dependent on foreign energy."
Adams emphasized that energy independence is not only an economic issue but also a national security priority.
"When America produces its own energy, we are stronger, more secure, and more prosperous," Adams said. "Lower gas prices mean lower costs for groceries, transportation, and everyday goods. Congress must stop attacking American energy and start putting American families first."
Adams said that if elected she will work with congressional leaders and President Donald Trump to fully restore American energy dominance and deliver lasting relief to consumers.
"Ohio families deserve affordable energy and a government that works for them," Adams said. "My plan will do exactly that."
Holly Adams is a Republican running for Ohio's First Congressional District.
