SPARKS, NV, March 13, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shanley Melody, LMFT, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Melody has distinguished herself as the co-owner and licensed marriage and family therapist at Sandstone Mental Health, a role she has held since 2023. In this capacity, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and clinical expertise, guiding the organization to significant recognition within the mental health community. Known for her advanced proficiency in trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety, chronic pain, as well as dialectical behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, she is proud to serve as an expert resource for both clients and colleagues in need.
Under Ms. Melody's stewardship, Sandstone Mental Health was voted the third-best mental health clinic in Sierra Nevada during its inaugural year, 2023. Since then, the clinic has the distinction of being named the top mental health clinic in 2024 in Reno, Nevada, and received the Best of Business award in 2025, acknowledging it as the best-reviewed and top-ranked mental health service in the region. Ms. Melody was also contacted by Canvas Rebel, an entrepreneurial digital magazine, to highlight her accomplishments as a small business owner which can still be accessed online. She considers these milestones among her most meaningful professional achievements to date as they allow her to connect with even more individuals and families.
Prior to assuming her role at Sandstone Mental Health, Ms. Melody served as a licensed marriage and family therapist at Great Basin Behavioral Health from 2019 to 2023. During this period, she expanded her clinical repertoire and deepened her commitment to providing compassionate care for individuals facing complex mental health challenges.
From 2017 to 2019, Ms. Melody contributed her expertise as a licensed marriage and family therapist at Duncan Family Health Care. Notably, she was part of a pioneering team that offered transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) — which utilizes magnetic fields to stimulate underactive brain cells to treat depression — making Duncan one of the first providers during this time in Reno to deliver this innovative treatment. Witnessing firsthand the positive outcomes for clients undergoing TMS remains a highlight of her career.
Alongside her primary roles, Ms. Melody is professionally affiliated with the National Academy of Sports Medicine as well as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), underscoring her commitment to ongoing education and advocacy within the mental health sector. Ms. Melody has also been offered to train first responders including emergency dispatch operators to understand mental health and how to incorporate that training in their daily job requirements while handling the community with care.
Hailing from an equally accomplished academic background, Ms. Melody earned a Master of Arts in clinical psychology from Argosy University in 2011 and a bachelor's degree in psychology and her minor in theater from the University of Nevada, Reno. To further her ability to integrate physical wellness into her therapeutic work, she is credentialed as a licensed marriage family therapist and certified as both a personal trainer and nutrition coach.
Reflecting on her storied journey thus far, Ms. Melody attributes much of her success to an extraordinary support system comprised of family members and friends along with her belief in God who have long inspired and encouraged her pursuits. She emphasizes the importance of maintaining one's personal well-being through exercise and ongoing therapy — principles she applies both personally and professionally.
Also known for her dedication to raising awareness about mental health issues within her community, Ms. Melody is involved as a participant in the Out of the Darkness Walk at Sparks Marina. Her own early experiences, which were shaped by community support, instilled in her a lifelong commitment to helping others navigate adversity with resilience and hope. This deeply personal perspective continues to inform her work with clients facing some of life's most difficult challenges.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Melody is focused on expanding Sandstone Mental Health by hiring licensed professionals who value autonomy and collaboration within a supportive environment. Her vision includes fostering a community-focused practice where therapists can thrive without burnout while prioritizing patient care above all else. Additionally, she aspires to become a hospice therapist to support individuals and families through end-of-life transitions with dignity and compassion, furthering her longstanding legacy of helping those in need through everything she does.
