SAN ANTONIO, TX, March 18, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Miriam L. Carranza has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Carranza has established a distinguished career in the construction industry, marked by more than a decade of progressive experience and leadership. Since 2025, she has served as a senior estimator at Turner Construction Company, where her responsibilities include receiving and reviewing design documents for constructability and scope, distributing drawings for feedback or proposals, conducting takeoffs and preparing critical deliverables such as guaranteed maximum price estimates. She presents these deliverables to clients to ensure alignment with project goals and supports drawing reviews and budget checks to maintain compliance with financial parameters.

In addition to these responsibilities, Ms. Carranza, at times, assists the procurement team during the buyout process, ensuring all elements are in place before transitioning projects to the construction phase. Her role often involves managing multiple projects and trades simultaneously, depending on departmental needs.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Carranza held the role of estimating engineer at Turner Construction Company from 2016 to 2020. She began her tenure in the estimating department, where she developed foundational skills in cost analysis and project planning. In 2020, following the onset of the pandemic and learning she was expecting her first child, she transitioned to fieldwork, contributing as a project engineer for mechanical, electrical and plumbing renovation upgrades at an active data center. After welcoming her daughter, Ms. Carranza returned to pre-construction while also managing a small job site focused on completing a detention pond finish-out.

Ms. Carranza's career then progressed to an industrial site as a project engineer overseeing renovation work at a truck testing facility. Subsequently, she continued field operations at St. Philip's College, where she led the renovation of multiple buildings as lead engineer and managed a team of engineers across these projects. Near the birth of her second daughter, she transitioned back into pre-construction roles.

Throughout her career, Ms. Carranza has demonstrated a strong commitment to professional development, not only for herself but also for those around her. She is particularly proud of her efforts in mentoring and training colleagues, finding fulfillment in helping others gain confidence and independence in their roles. Her ability to develop people and provide them with tools for success has been a defining aspect of her professional journey, a commitment she extends beyond her immediate workplace as a member of the local chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors.

Ms. Carranza's academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Science in architectural engineering with a minor in mathematics and facilities management certification from Texas A&M University-Kingsville in 2014. This educational foundation has been instrumental in equipping her with the technical expertise and analytical skills essential for success in complex construction environments.

Reflecting on her career, Ms. Carranza attributes much of her success to her husband's support, including childcare and a flexible work schedule, which have enabled her to pursue demanding professional opportunities. She also credits Turner Construction Company for fostering an environment that encourages career advancement and open communication about professional aspirations. The guidance of several strong managers and mentors throughout her tenure has further shaped her approach to overcoming challenges and striving beyond perceived limitations.

Ms. Carranza emphasizes that women can thrive in traditionally male-dominated industries. Although navigating such an environment has presented challenges, she has collaborated closely with her colleagues — currently part of a department of seven men — earning their respect while offering the same in return. She describes the team as exceptional and encourages others to pursue opportunities aligned with their passions, underscoring that nothing should deter them from trying.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Carranza is deeply involved in civic activities and community service initiatives. She served as head of the Veterans Employee Resource Group at Turner Construction Company from 2020 to 2024 and has volunteered with various outreach programs, including Ronald McDonald House Charities and San Antonio Food Bank, through Turner Construction Company.

Ms. Carranza's commitment extends to volunteering with the Associated General Contractors of America and the American Subcontractors Association, as well as participating in children's ministry activities at her local church. These experiences have allowed her to make meaningful contributions both within her industry and throughout the broader community.

In her personal life, Ms. Carranza enjoys spending time with family, reading and crocheting. Looking ahead, she aspires to expand her focus on developing others within the industry, whether by moving into roles dedicated specifically to mentorship or by integrating this passion more fully into her current responsibilities as senior estimator. As her children grow older, Ms. Carranza anticipates dedicating additional time to advancing her career while continuing to foster growth among those she leads.
