From 2014 to 2019, Mr. DeShields served as captain of county investigators and commander of the litigation division and crisis negotiations unit at the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. His expertise in homicide investigation and hostage negotiation was invaluable in these roles. In 2019, he ascended to the position of chief of county detectives before retiring in 2023. Throughout his career, Mr. DeShields was known for ensuring compliance with agency protocols and overseeing internal affairs complaints.
