MILWAUKEE, WI, March 25, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brent R. Jones has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Jones has established a distinguished career spanning three decades in firefighting, emergency medical services and public safety leadership. The foundation of Mr. Jones's success lies in his early enlistment with the United States Marine Corps nine days after high school graduation-a decision inspired by his father's legacy as a Marine. His father served in Vietnam, then as a body escort and then a drill instructor, and he later served as a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper for more than three decades. Teaching honor guard classes alongside his father proved invaluable for developing instructional techniques rooted in discipline and respect for tradition.
Mr. Jones currently serves as commander of the Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin Honor Guard, a position he has held for 11 years. He founded the Wisconsin State Firefighters Memorial Funeral Guard in Wisconsin Rapids and was commander from 2014 to 2018.
Mr. Jones also serves as deputy commander for the International Association of Fire Fighters in Colorado since 2014. In this capacity, he responds to multiple line-of-duty death incidents, coordinates mass memorials and funeral services, and played a pivotal role in revitalizing the IAFF Fall Firefighter Memorial Ceremony in Colorado Springs. He designed new ceremonial movements and protocols to honor fallen firefighters, impacting an annual audience of approximately 1,100 to 1,500 honor guard members and as many as 10,000 family members and department representatives.
Mr. Jones is very proud of founding Honor Guard Clinics and Schools Inc. in 2005, which began as a modest fundraiser but evolved into a comprehensive training organization serving first responders throughout the United States and Canada. Under his leadership, the organization established divisions in Salt Lake City, Boston, Miami and Edmonton, Alberta. The annual Milwaukee spring class now attracts more than 80 students per class.
Mr. Jones' tenure with the Milwaukee Fire Department spanned from 2000 to 2023, when he rose to the rank of fire lieutenant. Among his most notable achievements was establishing a comprehensive mass disaster plan for Milwaukee based on lessons learned from the Joplin, Missouri, tornado. This plan strengthened citywide preparedness for catastrophic events. He also redesigned vehicle response districting for engine and ladder companies, served as an instructor at the fire academy for two years and played a central role in developing the mutual aid box alarm system that integrated Milwaukee's operations with surrounding suburban departments, personally instructing those departments on collaboration. Mr. Jones served on the Heavy Urban Rescue Team from 2006 until 2017, and was an instructor for the confined space rescue discipline. He also served on the Command and Communications Team.
Additionally, Mr. Jones owned Critical Seconds from 2001 to 2012, providing specialized consulting services in emergency response, standard first aid, CPR, and first responders. His start in fire and EMS service began with private ambulance work with Oregon Area Fire and EMS.
After completing military service, Mr. Jones entered security work before volunteering as a firefighter-an experience that led him to join the Milwaukee Fire Department in 1999. His appointment to the department's honor guard followed soon after in December 2000. By 2004, he was named commander of Milwaukee's honor guard unit. Recognizing gaps in structured training opportunities, he launched honor guard clinics as fundraising initiatives that ultimately grew into Honor Guard Clinics and Schools Inc., now recognized nationally for advancing honor guard standards.
After retirement from Milwaukee Fire, Mr. Jones worked as operations manager, armed security agent and private investigator with Tri-Bolt Defense after serving as Milwaukee operations manager and armed security agent for Tri-Bolt Defense for the preceding two years. He assisted the CEO with overseeing all operations, coordinating plan developments, and risk assessments, along with leading teams during operations such as Battleship protection, high-risk terminations, securing multiple concert venues, protecting youth camps, and major U.S.-based corporations. With Tri-Bolt Defense, he also assisted with close protection details.
Mr. Jones' exemplary service has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Legion of Merit, the Spirit of the Honor Guard Award, Yearly Service Leader Award, Tunnel to Towers Community Service Award and Firefighter of the Year Award from International Fire Buffs Associates, FBI Citizens Academy Unsung Heroes award, along with many others.
Born in Elmira, Mr. Jones enjoys riding motorcycles long-distance and participating in tactical shooting activities in his free time. Looking ahead, Mr. Jones envisions Honor Guard Clinics and Schools Inc. becoming fully funded with expanded training opportunities available nationwide-particularly targeting younger professionals entering police, fire or emergency medical services careers. He aims to ensure that programs across Salt Lake City, Boston, Miami and Edmonton operate at full capacity while continuing instruction on funeral planning, family care, ceremonial movements, flag folding and proper casket carrying procedures. His long-term goal is to pass leadership responsibilities within Honor Guard Clinics and Schools Inc. to a new generation, ensuring continued support for families of fallen police officers, firefighters or emergency medical services personnel so their sacrifices are never forgotten.
