Mr. Wahl, born in Westbrook, has established a distinguished career spanning more than four decades in building operations, fire safety, sales management and military service. Since 2017, he has served as building operations manager for project management in commercial construction at Bowman Gaskins Financial Group. In this capacity, Mr. Wahl is responsible for the day-to-day needs of tenants, addressing their concerns and coordinating with relevant personnel to resolve issues efficiently. His expertise extends to managing complex building systems, including boilers, chillers, air handlers and HVAC units. He also develops build-out plans for new tenants and oversees the execution of tenant build-out work. Currently, he manages seven commercial buildings.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Wahl was the United States and International Sales Manager for EarthClean from 2013 to 2015. During this period, he was recruited by a startup focused on developing an organic fire-suppressant technology based on cornstarch. The product, TetraKO XL-P a water enhancer that was nontoxic to firefighters, plants, and animals that outperformed traditional firefighting foams, retardants and gels, that adhered to surfaces and was highly durable while remaining biodegradable and environmentally safe. Its application extended to homes, trees, vegetation and even rivers without harming aquatic life. His proactive work at EarthClean earned him recommendations from the International Trade and Investment, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Aquitaine and allowed the Greater Bordeaux firefighters to become TetraKO pioneers in Europe through critical testing on live fires in Southern France.
From 2011 to 2013, Mr. Wahl served as superintendent at Harvey-Cleary Builders, where he managed commercial construction projects and coordinated teams to ensure the timely completion of assignments.
Between 1998 and 2010, Mr. Wahl served as central area sales manager for Waterous Company. His territory spanned Central North America. He collaborated with manufacturers, dealer networks and fire departments as well as assisted with vocational-level courses on fire suppression and foam technologies.
Mr. Wahl's commitment to public safety is further exemplified by his 20-year tenure with the Chanhassen Fire Department, from 1990 to 2010, during which he handled fire suppression and EMS activities throughout the city, developed specifications for new apparatus and personal protective equipment. Mr. Wahl retired as assistant chief.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Wahl gained experience at Bell and Howell before entering public service and technical management.
His military service is marked by 14 years with the Minnesota Army National Guard Reserve from 1983 to 1997, where he held roles including survey crew chief for the First Battalion One Hundred Twenty-Fifth Field Artillery Regiment, instructor for the Five Thousand Forty-Second United States Army Reserve unit, electronic repair specialist for the One Hundred Thirty-Fourth Forward Support Battalion and crew chief for the First Battalion One Hundred Twenty-Fifth Field Artillery Regiment. At age seventeen, he enlisted and served as a crew chief and later became an artillery instructor for howitzers and survey crews. He played a pivotal role in transitioning the soldiers Military Occupational Skill to advanced training in new skill sets within the Army National Guard Reserve.
Mr. Wahl's academic background includes an Associate of Applied Science degree in fire science and firefighting from Hennepin Technical College, and an Associate Degree in Electronics Technology from Brown Institute in Minneapolis. He holds certifications as a firefighter I and II, along with Hazmat Specialist from Hennepin Technical College. These educational achievements have been instrumental throughout his career, enabling him to teach advanced firefighting techniques, manage complex building systems and adapt quickly to technological advancements.
He attributes much of his success to his upbringing on a farm in southwest Minnesota, where self-reliance was essential. This environment fostered a strong work ethic, adaptability and practical problem-solving skills that have defined his professional approach across all fields.
Mr. Wahl has demonstrated leadership through active involvement in industry-related organizations, including serving as president, secretary and board member at large of the Chanhassen Fire Department Relief Association from 1990 to 2010. He is also affiliated with the American Legion, the Sons of the American Legion, the Legion Riders, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Moose, the Elks Lodge and the Eagles.
His civic engagement extends beyond professional associations; he volunteers his time and resources through the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Among his recognitions is being named battalion noncommissioned officer of the year in 1990, a testament to his dedication during military service.
On a personal level, Mr. Wahl enjoys riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing and jet skiing. He is a proud father of three daughters.
Looking ahead, Mr. Wahl hopes to return to consulting while expanding his expertise in project and building management to oversee additional properties or new construction projects.
