In 2013, she completed training as a certified RDI consultant through the Relationship Development Intervention Program at RDI Connect. Leading to work with Pediatric Wellness Network providing behavioral intervention services with an interdisciplinary team for children with unique needs. She subsequently founded Behavioral & Sensory Solutions, her own practice focused on relationship-based, sensory-informed behavioral interventions in the home and school setting.
Since 2014 Ms. LaPenta served as a sensory and behavioral consultant, focusing on assessing sensory processing issues to incorporate in the development and implementation of individualized behavioral plans. She has worked as a behavioral and sensory consultant using RDI concepts across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Ms. LaPenta's earlier experience includes serving as an RDI consultant in training from 2012 to 2015, where she honed her skills in relationship development intervention methodologies. From 2006 to 2013, she worked as a special education teacher at Larc School, providing direct instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. Her foundational years in education began at LARC School, where she served as a special education teacher.
In addition to her primary roles, Ms. LaPenta is recognized as a speaker within her field and conducting trainings with organizations like American Bar Association. Her name has become well-known in the child custody community for her advocacy and commitment to finding effective solutions for children and families navigating complex systems.
Ms. LaPenta's academic background includes earning a bachelor's degree in elementary education and special education from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia in 2005. She also holds a reading specialty certificate from Saint Joseph's University, awarded in 2005. Furthering her expertise, she obtained a certificate in relationship development intervention and is certified in sensory processing assessment through Pearson. These academic achievements have provided the foundation for her multifaceted approach to supporting children with special needs.
She attributes her professional success to resilience, persistence and a non-confrontational approach, qualities that have enabled her to persevere even when faced with misunderstanding or adversity from others.
Beyond her professional commitments, Ms. LaPenta remains actively involved in civic organizations and community initiatives. She has served as an autism awareness ambassador for the Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community (COSAC) and volunteers with The Strong Families Commission Incorporated. She is affiliated with the Council for Exceptional Children and has volunteered at school events, including serving lunch duty and working at book fairs, at her children's school. Ms. LaPenta supports the Run the Bridge Event benefiting Larc School, coaches a softball league and volunteers with various fatherhood groups. Ms. LaPenta co-developed and volunteers her time to run False Allegations Workshop Series virtually.
Her contributions have been recognized through several awards, including the Professional Development Award for Teacher Leader in 2004 and the Teacher of the Year Award.
Born in Bucks County, Ms. LaPenta is the mother of one son and one daughter. In her free time, she enjoys creating large-scale artwork.
