Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Weathersby, born in Phoenix, has established a distinguished career spanning more than two decades in the electric utility and fire mitigation sectors. In 2025, he assumed the role of Director of transmission and substation maintenance and construction at Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation, where he is responsible for overseeing critical infrastructure projects and ensuring operational reliability.

Prior to joining Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation, Mr. Weathersby served as northeast division manager of transmission and distribution at Arizona Public Service from 2023 to 2025. For the preceding year, he was Coconino district operations supervisor at the same organization, where he directed field teams and coordinated maintenance activities to support uninterrupted service delivery.

Between 2021 and 2022, Mr. Weathersby held the position of northeast division supervisor for forestry, fire and resource management at Arizona Public Service. His responsibilities included developing wildfire mitigation strategies and managing vegetation programs to protect utility assets. He previously served as a metro 501-central city operations and maintenance supervisor from 2019 to 2021, where he led urban infrastructure projects and supervised emergency response efforts. He was also a metro Deer Valley operations and maintenance supervisor and contributed as a state region parker construction and maintenance supervisor.

Mr. Weathersby's earlier roles include serving as a Flagstaff/Williams distribution construction and maintenance planner from 2016 to 2017 and as the Arizona state region planner for forestry, fire and resource management during the same time. He also worked as the northeast Arizona division planner in the same area of management for two years following his tenure as southern Arizona division inspector for forestry, fire and resource management in 2015. He began his career in 2001 with a 14-year tenure as utility division operations manager with a contractor supporting Arizona Public Service.

Throughout his career, Mr. Weathersby has been actively involved in industry organizations. He has served as co-chair of the Arizona Public Service employee engagement council since 2020, fostering workplace culture improvements. He is also a committee member of the Western Energy Institute and chairman of the Flagstaff Leadership Association's Northern Arizona Leaders Program. Additionally, he was elected school board president in Arlington, Arizona, from 2008 to 2015.

Mr. Weathersby's educational background includes coursework at Rio Salado College in Tempe, which provided foundational knowledge that supported his advancement into leadership roles within the utility sector. He holds numerous certifications that have strengthened his expertise in emergency response and change management, including a presentation professional certification from Dale Carnegie Training and an M-410 facilitative instructor credential through the Arizona Department of Emergency & Military Affairs. He has also earned a range of federal emergency management and urban and wildland firefighting certifications and certified as an Emergency medical technician, along with formal training in change management, collectively reflecting a strong foundation in leadership, incident response and organizational effectiveness.

As a certified firefighter with the State of Arizona and a facilitative instructor through the Arizona Wildfire and Incident Management Academy, Mr. Weathersby has supported various Federal Emergency Management Agency efforts based on his firefighting credentials. He has led multiple mutual-aid operations, including a notable deployment in October 2019 during Pacific Gas and Electric's first public safety power shutoff in California. During this event, he led a team of thirty linemen into active wildfire areas to perform inspections and restore power—an inaugural operation of its kind.

Mr. Weathersby's dedication to his field has been recognized with several awards, including Firefighter of the Year from Buckeye Fire in 2002 and Firefighter of the Class Instructor's Choice from Tonopah Valley Fire District under the auspices of the Arizona State Fire Marshal in 2000. Overall, he attributes his success to being someone others can rely on—consistently showing up with solutions rather than problems—and focusing on making work easier for those around him. He also credits networking, bringing people along with him and prioritizing the development of future leaders as major factors contributing to his growth and effectiveness.

Outside his professional commitments, Mr. Weathersby enjoys freshwater fishing as a hobby. He also values time spent with his family as he and his wife adjust to life as empty nesters with their two adult, married children—one residing in Florida and one remaining in Arizona.

Mr. Weathersby's guiding principle is a deep commitment to his work, responsibilities and outcomes. He emphasizes that genuine care is foundational to success, asserting that when individuals truly invest in what they do, other elements naturally align. Paired with a strong work ethic, this mindset, he believes, is key to achieving meaningful results. Looking ahead in his career, he is committed to building future leaders by ensuring a strong succession plan within his organization. He focuses on assigning work that develops team members' skills while strengthening the leadership pipeline so that the company can continue thriving well into the future.
