Mr. Persing has established a distinguished career as an educator, consultant and business owner, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to supporting individuals from economically distressed communities. He began his professional career in education in 1985. Since 2011, he has served as the owner and consultant of Discovery Dynamics, a small business that serves public and private schools and by providing either small group or private tutoring sessions, in person or virtually and by collaborating with general education teachers and school leaders. His educational approach emphasizes small-group or one-on-one attention and utilizes strategies tailored to each student's needs to foster mastery in reading, mathematics and the sciences. Mr. Persing also has expertise in the writing of Individualized Educational Programs as well as course guides for teachers and students.

Mr. Persing has been married to his wife, Clare, for 33 years. Clare is also an educator and a leader with various efforts at her school.

Mr. Persing is known for his ability to communicate on a cognitive level that resonates with students, particularly those in special education who require individualized support. He also leverages social media to attract clients for tutoring and consulting services.

In addition, Mr. Persing dedicates significant time each week to canvass various parts of the United States to determine homeowners' interest in and feasibility of residential solar energy.

In addition to his educational endeavors, Mr. Persing has excelled as an insurance broker and consultant. In this capacity, he achieved notable financial success through inside sales until changes in insurance products shifted the insurance sales landscape. His accomplishments in this profession include being named salesperson of the month in November 2015 and January 2016 with a local insurance marketing organization, which provided him with opportunities to share his insights with colleagues during company wide meetings.

Prior to these roles, Mr. Persing retired from the Pennsylvania Public School System in 2011 after serving as a teacher, a coach, a student clubs advisor, an athletic director, a director of student activities, an assistant principal, a principal, and a coordinator of federal programs. During 2001 and 2002, Mr. Persing worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Education, where he wrote The Advanced Placement Grant Proposal and managed Title I and other federal grants, which helped improve the reading skills of low income students. He was a federal programs coordinator in western and southeastern Pennsylvania. He has also assisted school districts in the area of state-wide academic assessments.

Mr. Persing began his professional journey as an English teacher in 1985, during which time he facilitated a Japanese program, led the Future Business Leaders of America, and the speech and debate team where he had state and national participants. He also coached track, soccer, and cross-country. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated expertise in teaching the writing process and in guiding students in higher-order thinking skills and research methods.

In the professional and local communities, Mr. Persing is affiliated with various civic and professional associations. He is actively involved with the Democratic Socialists of America, where he contributes to advocacy and consulting efforts, without holding formal leadership positions. He previously served as vice president and treasurer of the administrators' association in the Reading School District and has represented his region in the National Association of Secondary School Administrators. He has also had leadership roles in negotiations of teachers' and administrators' contracts. Mr. Persing's dedication to service is further reflected in his volunteer work with local food banks and relief efforts. He is also recognized for his support of organizations, including the Arbor Day Foundation, the Lakota American Indian Initiative, and Disabled American Veterans. He also provides financial backing to communities in Pakistan, where he works with volunteers to provide funding for food, clothing, and shelter.

Education has been instrumental in shaping Mr. Persing's multifaceted career. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and English with honors from Muhlenberg College in Allentown in 1985, followed by a Master's Degree in Education from Lehigh University and a Master's Degree in English from Kutztown University, where he completed a 55,000 word thesis on "Postmodernism and Public Education." Mr. Persing also earned his principal's certification from Penn State University while actively teaching and coaching. In 2015, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education With honors from Kutztown University. While he was at Muhlenberg College, Mr. Persing was the Business Manager, a radio show host, and a community liaison for the college's radio station, WMUH, as well as a member of the track team, and Vice-President of the Accounting Society.

Mr. Persing also has certification as a personal, educational, and small business consultant through Resource Associates Corporation, which he earned in 2011. He is a graduate of the Sandler Sales Program. Mr. Persing was also a licensed health and life insurance agent in 30 states when he worked for Ideal Concepts.

When he reflects on his career, Mr. Persing attributes his achievements to goal setting, hard work, day to day consistency and problem-solving. He values collaboration, both offering help and seeking it when needed, and approaches challenges with determination. He emphasizes availability, adaptability and collegiality in delivering services to individual needs. Mr. Persing has taught Freshman English at Penn State University and Lehigh-Carbon Community College.

A published writer, Mr. Persing authored "Public Education in the Age of Postmodernism" in 2008 and produced a reference booklet on revision in the writing process through Penn State's Allentown campus. He has also published a short story, further establishing himself as a contributor to educational literature.

Born in Allentown, Mr. Persing enjoys jogging, biking, fitness, traveling, reading, gardening, music, and visiting museums. He is also an avid collector of antiques from past and present civilizations.
