His recognized expertise encompasses complex commercial litigation, class actions, legal malpractice and professional liability defense, insurance disputes, and blockchain law.

Prior to launching his firm with longtime colleagues Jeffrey Zaiger, Judd Linden, and John Roberti, Mr. Pepe was a partner at two prominent litigation boutiques in New York City. He began his legal practice as an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson in New York City and as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Faith S. Hochberg in New Jersey. He joined his former partner and mentor Gregory P. Joseph at the founding of what became Joseph Hage Aaronson, where he practiced for more than two decades concentrating on complex commercial litigation, high-stakes business disputes, and legal malpractice defense.

Mr. Pepe's contributions to legal scholarship are substantial. He has authored influential articles and book chapters that are widely cited in treatises, law reviews, journals, and official commentary to the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules. Notable publications include "Property Rights in Blockchain Assets: Emerging Issues from a U.S. Perspective" in the European Journal of Law Reform, "Foreign Affairs Takings: The Question of Foreign Plaintiff Standing" in Foreign Affairs Litigation in the United States Courts (Brill), and "Persuading Courts to Impose Sanctions on Your Adversary" in the ABA Litigation Journal, among many others. He is a member of the American Law Institute and a senior fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America.

In addition to his active legal practice, Mr. Pepe serves as a professorial lecturer in law at The George Washington University, where he teaches an advanced course on blockchain law, policy, and cybersecurity as part of the National Security & Cybersecurity Law concentration. He frequently speaks on blockchain and litigation issues and has guest lectured on blockchain, cryptocurrency, and fintech at Harvard University.

Mr. Pepe is also an entrepreneur who co-founded multiple blockchain companies, owns a residential property business, and holds several patents in cryptographic security, blockchain technology, and automotive innovation, including patents for a cryptographic cold storage system for the storage and transfer of blockchain-based assets. He volunteers with multiple organizations including a local breast cancer charity and the foundation of a decentralized blockchain project.

Mr. Pepe earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics, summa cum laude, from the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York, in 1996, followed by a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School in New York City in 1999, where he received the James Kent Scholarship for academic excellence. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey and multiple federal courts including the Supreme Court of the United States.
