Mrs. VandeZande has established herself as a dedicated professional in emergency medical services and courthouse operations, demonstrating expertise developed over 16 years in the field. In her most recent roles, she served as an emergency medical technician contracted through Marquette Kart Club, Sand Speedway Racetrack and Gwinn Ice Races. Her responsibilities include providing critical medical support at various racetracks, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants and spectators alike. Mrs. VandeZande's commitment to these organizations is evident in her ongoing presence at events, where she is recognized for her reliability and skill.

In addition to her work with racetracks, Mrs. VandeZande serves as a clerk at the 96th District Court in the Marquette County Courthouse. Balancing a demanding schedule, she works 10-hour shifts at the courthouse while also driving for Uber and DoorDash to support her educational pursuits. Her adaptability and work ethic are further demonstrated by her involvement in races on weekends, where she continues to provide emergency medical care.

Prior to her current engagements, Mrs. VandeZande retired from Forsyth Township EMS in 2025 after years of service, choosing to focus on advancing her education in criminal justice. Her earlier career includes a significant tenure at Marquette General Hospital (now Duke LifePoint), where she worked for 12 years as an emergency medical technician. This experience provided a strong foundation in patient care and emergency response, shaping her into an expert in emergency medical services.

Mrs. VandeZande's career is marked by active community involvement. She has participated extensively with the Forsyth Township EMS & Fire Departments and has co-taught emergency medical services classes until recently. Additionally, Mrs. VandeZande is an ordained minister who performs weddings and is currently receiving instruction to teach a domestic violence training program.

Mrs. VandeZande credits her determination and her family's unwavering support as key factors in her success. She attributes much of her resilience and drive to their encouragement, which has been instrumental throughout her career transitions and educational endeavors. Her initial inspiration to pursue emergency medical services stemmed from witnessing a car accident that required immediate intervention. This pivotal moment motivated her to pursue formal training in the field.

Five years ago, Mrs. VandeZande began college coursework with the intention of obtaining a licensed practical nurse credential, but later shifted her focus to criminal justice after leaving Duke LifePoint Hospital. This transition led to her current role at the district court and reinforced her commitment to public service.

She has served as a board member, past president and past vice president of the Marquette Kart Club, contributing significantly to its operations and growth. She enjoys racing, hosting monthly game nights with friends and engaging in arts and crafts projects, often selling creations online or attending craft fairs with her mother, whom she also cares for due to sensory disabilities. Her passion for animal welfare is evident in her rescue work with exotic birds.

Looking ahead, Mrs. VandeZande aspires to advance within the criminal justice system, either as a magistrate or a probation officer. She is particularly interested in supporting individuals reentering society after incarceration, aiming to serve as a resource for those navigating parole or probation.
