Mr. Madzinga has established himself as a distinguished expert in health care finance, health economics and health care management. In his current role as a financial analyst for primary care at Beth Israel Lahey Health in Boston, which he began in 2023, he manages multiple portfolios across five regions and approximately 35 practices. His responsibilities include analyzing monthly expense variances to gain insight into daily operations, collaborating with practice managers to identify key drivers and communicating findings to directors across various regions. Mr. Madzinga is also dedicated to training practice managers to independently assess variances in health care for their respective regions and regularly reviews facility metrics to ensure optimal performance. His overarching goal is to solve healthcare issues around access, efficiency and sustainability.
While at Beth Israel Lahey Health, Mr. Madzinga was selected as an impact investing fellow with the New England Impact Investing Initiative Inc. in Boston in 2025. He also served as a sustainable investing fellow and senior sustainable investing fellow at Intentional Asset Management in the New York City Metropolitan area between 2023 and 2024 and then as an impact officer with the organization from 2024 to 2025. Additionally, Mr. Madzinga served as the head of Africa and diaspora investment initiatives at Intentional Asset Management in the New York City metropolitan area during 2025, where he led efforts to foster investment opportunities across Africa and its diaspora, building on his earlier tenure.
From 2021 to 2022, Mr. Madzinga excelled as a fund consultant for GIB Group in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa, where he provided strategic guidance on financial products and investment portfolios. His earlier experience included working as a business development specialist at TVE Electric Motors in Johannesburg between 2019 and 2020 and as a business operations specialist at Verdacy in Johannesburg from 2018 to 2019.
Mr. Madzinga's academic background is marked by rigorous study and achievement. He received a Bachelor of Commerce in intrapreneurial management from the University of Johannesburg in 2015, followed by postgraduate coursework in corporate governance at Monash South Africa in 2017. From there, he earned a Master of Business Administration at the University of Johannesburg in 2021 and a Master of Science in finance from Hult International Business School in 2023. Mr. Madzinga is currently pursuing postgraduate coursework in corporate finance at Harvard Extension School.
In addition to his formal education, Mr. Madzinga's technical expertise is reinforced by several certifications from DataCamp, including introduction to SQL, intermediate SQL, and introduction to portfolio analysis in R. He also holds credentials in SQL for data science and in calculating descriptive statistics in R from Coursera, among others. These credentials have enabled Mr. Madzinga to excel in data-driven decision-making within complex financial environments.
Throughout his career, Mr. Madzinga has demonstrated a commitment to professional development and industry engagement. He became a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives in 2026, further solidifying his standing among leaders in the field. Mr. Madzinga's intellectual contributions have been featured in various journals and publications across healthcare finance, health systems, and economics, reinforcing the research-driven nature of his work.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Madzinga has been actively involved with civic organizations and advisory boards. Since 2026, he has served on Healthcare Shares' advisory board in Boston. He is also a member of the Alliance for American Leadership's advisory committee, beginning in 2025, and has served on Grateful Giving's leadership council since 2025. In addition, he was appointed to the board of advisors for Symptone in 2025.
Among numerous notable accomplishments, Mr. Madzinga has mentored fellows who later joined development banks and pursued advanced studies in development finance, sustainability, and impact investing, with several going on to lead research initiatives and hold critical roles in the field. During a period of significant organizational strain, including major layoffs within his healthcare system, Mr. Madzinga contributed to the development of a comprehensive turnaround strategy that balanced the needs of commercially insured and state-funded patient populations, resulting in measurable growth across both segments. This work has since underpinned the expansion of his expertise in healthcare finance, particularly in designing resilient, system-level strategies that align financial sustainability with equitable access to care.
He began his journey as a fellow at Intentional Asset Management and has since mentored numerous fellows who have gone on to work in development finance and successfully compete in the Harvard Business School Case Competition. He has also successfully submitted manuscripts for review at the National Bureau of Economic Research, further contributing to the academic discourse at the intersection of healthcare systems, finance, economics and policy. In addition, he has been invited to speak at conferences and served as a panelist in healthcare and finance forums, including at Hult International Business School.
Mr. Madzinga's achievements have been recognized with prestigious honors, including the Polymath Fellowship awarded by Polymath University, where he was selected as one of 15 scholars. This fellowship will culminate in a forthcoming white paper addressing the central "wicked problem" that underpins his body of work advancing equitable, efficient, and financially sustainable healthcare systems.
