From 2007 to 2022, Ms. Cameau taught in Newton Public Schools, dedicating eight years to third-grade instruction and seven years to fourth-grade instruction. During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in shaping district-wide curriculum initiatives. Notably, about ten years ago, she developed a comprehensive civil rights movement curriculum for fourth graders that was adopted across the district. She was invited to present her social studies projects to fellow educators in Newton, leading to widespread implementation of her innovative teaching strategies. This accomplishment stands as one of her proudest professional milestones, reflecting the value peers and administrators alike place on her ideas. Additionally, Ms. Cameau contributed to hiring committees and participated in selecting curriculum materials for the district. She was also tasked with writing science curriculum content and consistently sought to create resources that were accessible and engaging for children.

In 2019, Ms. Cameau expanded her instructional repertoire as a science instructor at Shady Hill School in Cambridge. Earlier in her career, she served as a summer school teacher with Boston Public Schools in 2008 and began her professional journey as a teacher's assistant at Delphi Academy in Milton in 2005.

Before entering the field of education, Ms. Cameau worked as a phlebotomist II at Children's Hospital Boston from 2000 to 2007. This experience provided her with valuable insights into working with children and families in a healthcare setting.

Ms. Cameau's achievements have been recognized through several awards and honors, including being named a leading teacher within Newton Public Schools. She was featured in the Newton Tab for her contributions to education and has maintained lasting connections with former students who credit her support for their personal successes, including one who became a prominent fashion designer at Tom Ford.

Her academic background includes a Master of Education from the University of Massachusetts Boston, earned in 2007, and a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology from the University of Massachusetts Boston, completed in 2004. These academic pursuits laid the foundation for her understanding of child development and effective teaching methodologies. Ms. Cameau holds an Educator Forever Agency curriculum development foundations certification awarded in 2022, as well as an SEI certification, further demonstrating her commitment to professional growth.

Ms. Cameau attributes much of her success to her mother, who instilled in her the values of perseverance and accountability from an early age. Inspired initially by an interest in medical laboratory sciences and aspirations to become a medical technician, she shifted her focus after two years to psychology, aiming to become a child psychologist. A transformative experience working with a young student struggling with literacy inspired Ms. Cameau to pursue teaching, a decision reinforced by her own fifth-grade teacher's encouragement.

Beyond the classroom, Ms. Cameau has been civically engaged as a volunteer at homeless shelters through Arbella Insurance Group since 2007. She has contributed to various curriculum advisory groups within Newton Public Schools and participated on the diversity team at Renaissance Charter Public School.

Her creative contributions include serving as a contributor on the revision to the social studies curriculum project completed in 2013, a testament to her ongoing commitment to curricular excellence.

Born in Boston, Ms. Cameau enjoys reading, cooking, painting and caring for her son outside of work.
