Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Sheera has established himself as a recognized expert with demonstrated impact in business management, market intelligence, and cross-functional transformation within the medical device industry. In his current capacity as Vice President of Business Transformation at Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies since 2025, he has been critical in advancing enterprise transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing operating agility, shaping enterprise strategy, and accelerating strategic growth. Mr. Sheera's leadership is defined by his ability to interpret market dynamics, translate market intelligence into strategic direction, and execute operating model transformations to operationalize strategy into measurable business outcomes.
Before joining Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, Mr. Sheera served in a business and marketing leadership role at Zimmer Biomet in 2025. In this role, he was recognized for his innovative approach to market intelligence, particularly in orthopedics, where he challenged industry norms and pioneered an industry-level market intelligence approach that reduced data latency from approximately 18 months to two to three months through collaboration with industry partners, enabling near real-time strategic decision-making across the orthopedic industry. His work in advancing market intelligence capabilities has been recognized within the industry for enabling more data-driven and timely decision-making.
From 2023 to 2025, Mr. Sheera served as Vice President of Special Projects in the Office of the Chief Executive Officer at Zimmer Biomet, a Fortune-500 company. During this period, he led initiatives leveraging market intelligence to develop new markets, establishing and evaluating business cases for distributed manufacturing of flagship products, and understanding market and customer sentiment to assess the future growth trajectory of both the industry and Zimmer Biomet.
As Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff to the Chief Operating Officer at Zimmer Biomet from 2022 to 2023, Mr. Sheera played a pivotal role in executing enterprise-wide initiatives that strengthened organizational performance. In 2022, he also served as Assistant General Manager for Zimmer Biomet North West, overseeing regional P&L, sales, and operations and contributing to business growth.
Among the strategic transformations Mr. Sheera led, he managed a critical crisis in the Sports Medicine business when an external vendor's facility was abruptly shut down, jeopardizing one-third of the business. Although not directly associated with Sports Medicine, Mr. Sheera was selected to lead the response based on his expertise in cross-functional transformation. He coordinated teams across manufacturing, operations, logistics, regulatory, and sales to reorganize global product marketing and distribution. His efforts ensured uninterrupted patient care during the initial phase of the crisis. The company maintained high service levels throughout the transition to a new vendor and stabilized operations within six months, safeguarding a significant portion of the business and ensuring continuity of patient care.
Between 2021 and 2022, Mr. Sheera was Director of Downstream Marketing at Zimmer Biomet, where he led marketing strategies for product launch excellence and market expansion. From 2019 to 2021, he advanced as Associate Director of Downstream Marketing, focusing on optimizing product positioning and customer engagement.
Mr. Sheera's earlier tenure at Zimmer Biomet was marked by high-impact roles across product management and enterprise initiatives. Most notably, during the 2015 merger between Zimmer and Biomet—one of the largest M&A transactions in the history of the medical device industry—he led the pre-merger integration PMO for the U.S. commercial function with a ~$5B business footprint. This role placed him at the center of one of the most complex integration efforts in the industry, wherein he drove cross-functional alignment and integration planning at scale, contributing to an enterprise-defining transformation.
He also was selected for the Zimmer Biomet Leadership Program (2013–2014), where he led strategic initiatives across Marketing, Supply Chain, Quality, and Business Development. This experience built a strong foundation in enterprise thinking and cross-functional execution. He later served as a Global Product Manager from 2016 to 2019, further strengthening his expertise in global portfolio strategy and market-driven execution.
Before his extensive career at Zimmer Biomet, Mr. Sheera gained valuable experience as an MBA summer associate at Johnson Controls in 2012 and as a marketing consultant with General Electric Company that same year. His early professional journey began at MindTree Consulting, where he progressed from Associate (2005 to 2006) to Associate Consultant (2006 to 2008), Consultant (2008 to 2010) and Senior Consultant (2010 to 2011). He also served as a Software Engineer Module Lead at Infosys Technologies Limited from 2003 to 2005 after starting his career as a Graduate Engineer at Hutchison Essar Limited from 2002 to 2003.
Mr. Sheera's academic background has been foundational to his success. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business in Ann Arbor in 2013, with emphases in marketing and general management. He completed additional MBA coursework at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai that same year. He holds an electronics engineering degree from Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology in New Delhi, awarded in 2002. He completed his senior secondary education at Bhatnagar International School in 1995, followed by studies in science at Manav Sthali School in 1997.
Mr. Sheera attributes his achievements to several key influences: exposure across various sectors within medical devices provided him with deep market insights; participation in leadership programs fostered a robust cross-functional understanding; mentorship from leaders such as Ivan Tornos, Orsa Britton, Sean O'Hara, Nnamdi Njoku and Mark Bezjak guided his professional development; and strong relationships with colleagues have been vital for driving successful outcomes.
His entry into health care was inspired during his Master of Business Administration studies at the University of Michigan, when his wife—a dentist—introduced him to Zimmer's impact on dental implants and the orthopedic industry as a whole. Intrigued by Zimmer's scale and mission, he pursued its leadership program for its unique rotational structure, which offered broad exposure across functions.
Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Mr. Sheera is engaged through associations with industry organizations dedicated to community and patient betterment. He has co-authored "The Rise of Robotics in Orthopedics," contributing to industry discourse on the role of robotics in advancing orthopedic care, reflecting his commitment to advancing innovation within the field.
Born in New Delhi, Mr. Sheera deeply values family life. He enjoys spending time with his daughter—particularly skiing together—and traveling as a family. Looking ahead, he is dedicated to fostering innovative thinking in patient care by developing robust economic cases for the early adoption of transformative technologies, such as robotics and artificial intelligence, in health care. He believes that greater industry collaboration will be essential for achieving breakthroughs that prioritize patient outcomes.
Mr. Sheera's career exemplifies excellence through expertise in market intelligence, and cross-functional transformation, qualities that have positioned him among leaders contributing to the advancement of strategy, market intelligence, and transformation practices within the global medical device industry.
