He also has significant experience advising startups, early-stage technology companies, defense and aerospace firms and educational institutions. Prior to his current role, Dr. Stevens served as interim president of Rhodes College from 2021 to 2022, where he provided strategic leadership during a pivotal time for the institution. From 2015 to 2019, he was vice president for advancement at Claremont McKenna College, where he played a crucial role in enhancing the college's development initiatives. Concurrently, between 2013 and 2021, he was vice president for strategic initiatives at Ardeo Education Solutions, focusing on innovative strategies to support educational access.

Dr. Stevens's earlier career includes his tenure as senior vice president of the management consultancy division at Mott MacDonald from 2007 to 2013. He also held significant academic roles as associate dean at Yale Law School from 1987 to 2005 and at the College of Law at the University of Kentucky from 1976 to 1987. His contributions to legal education were recognized through his presidency of the National Association for Law Placement Inc. and his membership in the Kentucky Bar Association.

Dedicated as a student, Dr. Stevens earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication arts from Georgetown College in 1971, followed by a Juris Doctor from the J. David Rosenberg College of Law at the University of Kentucky in 1976. Beyond his education, he attributes his success to the unwavering support of his family and the inspiration from teachers who recognized his potential early on.

Dr. Stevens's civic involvement is extensive, serving on numerous boards and in advisory roles that reflect his commitment to education and community service. He has been a board trustee at Shaker Village since 2022 and an advisor for Divergent Technologies Inc. since 2018. His leadership extends to being president of the Ardeo Education Foundation since 2013 and honorary fellow and chairman of the North American Board of Advisors at Regent's Park College, University of Oxford since 2000. He is also proud of his contributions to Taiwan's democratization, having been invited to advise as a representative of a mature democracy.
