A sought-after expert for his strategic insights and innovative approach to marketing and sales, he is also well-regarded for leading the digital transformations of several media properties and communications firms.
At the HL Group, a marketing and communications firm based in New York and Los Angeles, Mr. De Luca served as President and Chief Marketing Officer from 2018 to 2020. During his tenure, he was directly responsible for all new business development and secured more than 40 new clients in two years, tripling new business revenue. Mr. De Luca initiated the firm's expansion into the fintech industry and developed a direct-to-consumer strategy that attracted numerous trail-blazing clients across both sectors. He also streamlined the overall business operation which led to a 23% increase in profitability. Under his leadership, HL Group was named one of the top 50 PR firms in New York by the New York Observer in 2018 and 2019.
Mr. De Luca served with American Express from 2010 to 2018 as the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for DEPARTURES, Centurion and Travel + Leisure, a $100 million-plus business unit of leading media properties across digital, print, mobile and social platforms. He led the expansion of DEPARTURES' digital footprint by launching DEPARTURES Dispatch, a weekly newsletter that increased digital revenue by 15%. He also spearheaded the diversification of ad revenue by launching DEPARTURES' Home and Design, which generated over $3 million in annual revenue from the home furnishings industry. His efforts to modernize the business unit by embracing emerging digital technology helped to revitalized company performance and paved the way for a with a 40% increase in total revenue during his tenure.
Prior to these appointments, Mr. De Luca was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Details with Condé Nast from 2008 to 2009 and an associate publisher at Condé Nast Traveler from 2007 to 2008. Notably, he earned the Condé Nast Silver Award for top performance by a publisher in 2008. During this period, he was instrumental in launching the "Modern Man" partnership with Banana Republic, increasing circulation by 7% through in-store shopping promotions and ad sales by 8%, resulting in the brand's highest revenue to date.
