HACIENDA HEIGHTS, CA, May 05, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Radhanath Thialan has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Thialan has established himself as an expert in dance choreography, earning recognition for his innovative approach and dedication to the art form. Since 2017, he has served as associate artistic director at Yaya Dance Academy in City of Industry, California. In this capacity, Mr. Thialan conducts in-person classes from the afternoon to evening, manages administrative responsibilities, including student enrollment for competitions, and communicates judges' feedback to parents. He is also responsible for preparing recitals by ordering costumes, editing music, coordinating lighting and creating promotional materials. Demonstrating his affinity for technology, he developed an app for the studio that streamlines recital and competition information for parents. Additionally, Mr. Thialan oversees choreography for the academy's competition team.
At Yaya Dance Academy, Mr. Thialan's philosophy centers on storytelling through choreography. He invests time in understanding his students and dancers personally before crafting each piece, ensuring every work is unique and meaningful. The academy was founded with the mission of teaching American-born Chinese youth about their heritage through dance, blending folk and Chinese classical styles with contemporary movements to create a distinctive artistic voice. Mr. Thialan recognizes the challenges many children face in reconciling their American identities with their cultural roots and uses dance as a medium to help them reconnect with their backgrounds.
Among his most rewarding experiences is witnessing his students' growth beyond technical dance skills. He takes pride in nurturing qualities such as discipline, responsibility and time management, which contribute to their overall development as individuals. Many of his students have gone on to attend prestigious universities, including Harvard University and the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Thialan finds it especially gratifying when students who were initially reluctant to embrace Chinese culture develop a newfound appreciation for their heritage through dance.
Since 2024, Mr. Thialan has also contributed as an assistant project coordinator at The T.O.P Awards, LLC in Irvine, California. In collaboration with Yaya, he helped establish the T.O.P. Awards to introduce high school students transitioning to college life to the audition process for dance companies. The initiative brings together dancers and master teachers from various organizations to conduct seminars and workshops, broadening students' perspectives on opportunities within the dance industry. Plans are underway to expand offerings into areas such as lighting design, stage management, dance administration and public relations marketing.
Mr. Thialan has served as vice president at San Musae Cultural Center in City of Industry since 2020, where he continues to promote cultural awareness through the arts. In 2015, he founded Rad-icalDance Company in California, further demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to advancing dance education.
His academic involvement includes serving as an adjunct faculty member at Scottsdale Community College in Arizona in 2022, where he shared his expertise with aspiring collegiate dancers. From 2017 to 2021, Mr. Thialan worked as a freelance video editor for the National Choreographers Initiative in Irvine, contributing his technical skills to support creative projects.
Between 2018 and 2020, he was a teaching assistant at the University of California, Irvine while pursuing graduate studies. During this period, he also served as a choreographer for Pacific Symphony's Lunar New Year event in 2019. He worked as an online media coordinator for the American College Dance Association in Irvine that same year.
From 2017 to 2019, Mr. Thialan interned at OC Music & Dance in Irvine, gaining valuable experience in arts administration and event coordination. In 2017, he traveled internationally as a choreographer at Shanghai Normal University in China.
Earlier roles include event organizer at La Cocina Restaurant & Taps Bar in Selangor, Malaysia (2016), student administrative assistant at Scottsdale Community College (2015 to 2016), dancer with Instinct Dancecorps in Scottsdale (2015 to 2016) and jazz and Latin teacher at Dance Moves Studio in Puchong, Malaysia (2012 to 2014).
Mr. Thialan's educational background has been instrumental in shaping his career trajectory. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in dance from Claire Trevor School of the Arts at the University of California, Irvine, in 2020 after completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance choreography from the same institution in 2018. His foundational studies include an associate degree in business management with concentrations in dance technology and dance fine arts from Scottsdale Community College in Arizona in 2016.
He holds several certifications that underscore his commitment to excellence: Excellence In Dance Education from T.O.P Awards Summer Program via Certopus by DevSquirrel Technologies Pvt Ltd (2024), Dance Advanced 1 from Royal Academy of Dance (2013), Grade 8 piano certification from The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (2012) and Taekwondo fourth dan from Kukkiwon.
Mr. Thialan attributes much of his success to the guidance of supportive teachers throughout his formative years and credits his father for instilling perseverance and encouraging him to pursue his passion despite initial opposition.
His journey into professional dance began after relocating from Malaysia to the United States in 2014. While pursuing undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine, he met Yaya during auditions for a collaborative project with Pacific Symphony for Lunar New Year celebrations. This partnership marked the beginning of their ongoing collaboration at Yaya Dance Academy.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Thialan was selected for a fully sponsored cultural exchange program by the University of California, Irvine that took him to Shanghai and Tel Aviv. This experience broadened his artistic perspective.
Civic engagement is central to Mr. Thialan's ethos; he served as a choreographer for Pacific Symphony's Lunar New Year event in 2019 and remains actively involved with organizations that promote cultural understanding through dance.
His accomplishments have been recognized through numerous awards: Dean's Scholarship from UCI Dance at Claire Trevor School of the Arts (2019), Outstanding Choreographer Award from UCI Dance (2018), Elizabeth and Thomas Tierney Scholarship from UCI Dance (2017), Dancing Artie Award for Most Outstanding Student at Scottsdale Community College (2015-2016), MCCCD Artist of Promise Film Competition award from Maricopa Community Colleges (2016), Chancellor Scholarship Award Spring from Scottsdale Community College (2016) and Honest-1 Auto Care Dance Scholarship from Jack Keilt at Scottsdale Community College (2015).
As an author, Mr. Thialan contributed "The Paper Dance" to Dance Major Journal, a publication reflecting on creative processes within choreography.
Outside his professional commitments, Mr. Thialan enjoys playing piano, cooking, and exploring new restaurants, pursuits that reflect his appreciation for creativity both in and out of the studio.
Looking ahead, Mr. Thialan aims to secure permanent residency status while continuing to inspire future generations of dancers by emphasizing self-discovery through movement. He plans to expand his choreographic work beyond the studio environment by submitting pieces to festivals and raising his profile within the broader dance community. Ultimately, he remains committed to helping others learn about themselves through the transformative power of dance.
