Kurt Radtke was born in Santa Ana, California and spent his early years in Australia, where he was raised before returning to the United States in 1975. He completed his secondary education at Kearney High School, graduating early in 1984.
Although he faced academic challenges early on, those experiences helped shape a strong sense of resilience and personal accountability, qualities that would carry forward into both his military service and professional career.
After graduating high school, Mr. Radtke enlisted in the United States Army in 1984, beginning a military career. He advanced to the position of platoon sergeant, where he developed an operational approach grounded in accountability, decisiveness, and leading from the front. Throughout his service, he adhered to three core principles: lead from the front, when in charge take charge, and accept responsibility for decisions. These tenets shaped his leadership philosophy and continue to guide his professional conduct. His military experience fostered a disciplined and adaptable mindset, which he has applied to complex operational environments throughout his career.
Transitioning to the private sector, Mr. Radtke entered the mining industry following an unexpected opportunity that arose while delivering a leadership presentation to Fortune 500 executives at the University of Utah's business school. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of a dynamic career in mineral exploration and operations management.
In 2012, Mr. Radtke was appointed general manager for Boart Longyear's Saudi Arabia division, where he led operations through 2015. He later joined Imdex Limited as a quality, health, safety, and environment specialist from 2015 to 2018, before advancing to area manager for Alaska from 2018 to 2020. During this period, he further strengthened his expertise in remote operations and mineral exploration, capabilities that became central to his professional reputation.
In 2020, Mr. Radtke became Nevada underground operations manager for First Drilling LLC before Major Drilling acquired the company later that year. He continued as underground general foreman with Major Drilling through 2021 and subsequently served as Nevada area manager within the same organization.
His career reached new heights when he joined Maaden in March 2021 as drilling manager. Recruited to support what would become the world's largest mineral exploration program, delivering more than 500,000 meters of drilling annually, Mr. Radtke initially planned a short tenure; however, sustained success and expanding responsibilities extended his role to five years. From 2023 to 2025, he served as director of field operations (exploration), overseeing activities across nine sites and playing a key role in establishing joint ventures and strategic partnerships that accelerated Maaden's growth.
Since 2025, Mr. Radtke has served as vice president of field operations and logistics at Maaden. In this role, he leads a workforce of more than 850 personnel, including contractors and direct staff, while overseeing exploration activities across nine sites. Under his leadership, the exploration organization scaled from 16 to more than 1,200 professionals, with a strategic focus on advancing copper discoveries and expanding gold resources.
The achievements realized during this period represent a defining chapter in Mr. Radtke's professional career. He is widely recognized for his expertise in remote operations and mineral exploration.
Mr. Radtke also maintains an active membership with Student Veterans of America, reflecting his continued commitment to supporting veterans transitioning into civilian careers.
Mr. Radtke earned both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration, with an emphasis in program management, from American Military University. His academic training provided a strong foundation for managing large-scale projects and leading diverse, multicultural teams across international operations.
Mr. Radtke also holds several industry certifications: underground mining instructor (MSHA Department of Labor, 2016); surface mining instructor (MSHA Department of Labor, 2016); OSHA 30 (OSHA Training Center); OSHA 10 (OSHA-Safety-Training.com); and OSHA 500 (OSHA). These credentials have been instrumental in ensuring operational safety standards and regulatory compliance throughout his career.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Radtke has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement as a volunteer and donor with various veteran organizations. In recognition of his service to the community, he was named Volunteer of the Year in Alaska in 2000 after initiating adult education programs for individuals recovering from substance abuse. He also taught science at the middle school level, using engaging topics like ballistics to engage and inspire students.
Family remains central to Mr. Radtke's life. He credits his wife, Lindee, as a foundational influence in his career, whose unwavering support and partnership enabled him to take on complex, high-risk assignments around the world. Her strength and belief in his path have been instrumental to his continued growth and success. Together with their seven children and eight grandchildren, his family represents his greatest achievement. Their encouragement has consistently driven him to pursue new challenges beyond military retirement rather than settling into complacency.
In addition to his professional ambitions within global mineral exploration, Mr. Radtke enjoys fly fishing, visiting the beach and spending quality time with his children and grandchildren. Looking ahead, he aims to continue making meaningful contributions to the industry while deepening connections with his children and grandchildren through more intentional engagement.
