He is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Johnson completed a breast surgical oncology fellowship at Allegheny Health Network in 2024 after matching into the program and being invited to remain as part of the team upon completion. From 2018 to 2023, he held several roles at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas, including wellness specialist and general surgery resident. During this period, he contributed as a diversity and inclusion council member from 2020 to 2023, an academic administrator between 2021 and 2022 and a coordinator in 2020. He also served as coordinator at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in 2021.

Dr. Johnson's commitment to medical education is evident through his creation of the Summer Medical Exposure Boot Camp in Boston in 2017, a six-week initiative designed to expose high school students to all fields of medicine. The program continues today as the Medical Exposure Intensive through the Boston Area Health Education Center. His earlier leadership roles include serving as community liaison for the Student National Medical Association from 2013 to 2018 and co-president of its Boston chapter from 2013 to 2015.

In addition, Dr. Johnson was a member of the board of advisors for the Boston Public Health Commission in 2017 and led both the Health Professions Recruitment and Exposure Program from 2014 to 2017 and the Boston University School of Medicine Academy Council between 2014 and 2015. Earlier, he gained experience volunteering with the Boston University School of Medicine Student Advisory Council from 2014 to 2015, tutoring for the J.K. Haynes Summer Science Program in 2014 and conducting research as an intern at Harvard University in Cambridge in 2010.

Dr. Johnson's academic foundation includes earning a Doctorate of Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine in 2018 after graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology from Morehouse College in Atlanta in 2013. He completed a breast surgical oncology fellowship at Allegheny Health Network in 2024 and received additional fellowship completion recognition from the Society of Surgical Oncology that same year.

Shaped by formative influences rooted in faith and family history, Dr. Johnson attributes his sense of purpose to his unique personal narrative, which began even before his birth. During her pregnancy, his mother was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer at age 33 and chose to continue despite medical advice. Growing up in a deeply spiritual environment instilled in him a mission-driven approach to medicine, centered on service, healing and honoring the loved ones who have shaped his journey.

The prevalence of hereditary breast cancer within Dr. Johnson's family — including diagnoses among his mother, grandmother, aunt, another aunt, her daughter, and his sister — has deeply informed both his clinical practice and advocacy work. The discovery that family members carry the BRCA1 gene mutation further motivated him to establish The Pink Kingdom as an avenue for education, prevention strategies and holistic support for those impacted by breast cancer.

Dr. Johnson's civic engagement includes providing community service through high school breast cancer education programs and supporting organizations such as the Watch Her Glow Foundation, a nonprofit founded by actress Tiffany Toney dedicated to young women suffering from breast implant illness, with whom he is partnering on a health and wellness tour beginning in 2026.

Throughout his career, Dr. Johnson has taken the greatest pride in overcoming personal trials and challenges to pursue a path that honors the women in his family who have been affected by breast cancer. His achievements have been recognized with honors, including the Massachusetts Medical Society Scholar and the Boston University School of Medicine Alumni Association Award, both in 2018.

Born in Mount Holly, Dr. Johnson maintains a diverse array of interests outside of his clinical practice that reflect his commitment to holistic well-being. A practitioner of martial arts and mindfulness, he is currently on track for teacher certification in Kung Fu and Tai Chi. He received his 200hr yoga certification with the Om Lounge. His creative and physical outlets also include weightlifting, playing the guitar, and taking voice lessons, all of which contribute to a balanced and disciplined lifestyle.
