NORFOLK, VA, May 19, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ronald Leigh Fritch has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Fritch currently serves as chief financial officer at Mercy Chefs in Portsmouth, Virginia, a role he has held since 2023. In this capacity, he oversees the nonprofit organization's financial operations, which are dedicated to providing professionally prepared meals to victims, volunteers, and first responders in disaster zones and areas affected by food insecurity. Drawing on nearly three decades of experience in accounting and finance, Mr. Fritch has played a pivotal role in strengthening the organization's fiscal health and expanding its reach through innovative mobile operations based in Huntsville, Alabama. His leadership ensures that Mercy Chefs can respond rapidly to communities impacted by tornadoes, hurricanes and other emergencies.
Before joining Mercy Chefs, Mr. Fritch was chief financial officer at Eggleston in Norfolk, Virginia, from 2018 to 2022. There, he managed complex budgets and financial strategies for an organization focused on empowering individuals with disabilities through employment and support services. His tenure was marked by a commitment to transparency and resource optimization, ensuring that essential programs remained sustainable.
From 2017 to 2018, Mr. Fritch served as chief financial officer at Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, Virginia. In this position, he oversaw all aspects of financial management for the church's ministries and outreach programs. He implemented robust accounting systems that enhanced stewardship and accountability within the organization.
Between 2015 and 2017, Mr. Fritch served as controller at WHRO Public Media in Norfolk, Virginia. He directed financial reporting and compliance for the region's leading public broadcasting station, supporting educational initiatives and community programming through sound fiscal practices.
From 2014 to 2015, Mr. Fritch was assistant director of finance for the City of Norfolk, Virginia. He contributed to municipal budgeting processes and financial planning efforts that supported citywide services and infrastructure projects.
From 2012 to 2014, Mr. Fritch served as chief financial officer at The Consortium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He led the organization through significant financial restructuring while maintaining critical behavioral health services for vulnerable populations.
Previously, from 2004 to 2012, Mr. Fritch served as chief financial officer at Bethanna in Southampton, Pennsylvania. He managed finances for a nonprofit agency specializing in child welfare and family support services. At both the Consortium and Bethanna, Mr. Fritch led an accounting team that returned both organizations to profitability after they had been near bankruptcy.
From 1997 to 2004, Mr. Fritch held concurrent roles as chief financial officer and regional director of finance for Young's Medical and Northwestern Human Services (NHS) of Philadelphia. At Young's, Mr. Fritch helped the partners build a successful DME company that was ultimately sold. At NHS, Mr. Fritch and the Regional VP consolidated six entities -- operations and financial systems -- into the largest behavioral and mental health organization in the United States. From 1991-1997, Mr. Fritch served as corporate controller and director of finance for Curaflex Health Services and area financial manager for its successor Coram Healthcare Corporation, a leading corporation in the infusion industry. There Mr. Fritch provided the financial information necessary to take Curaflex public and later support its consolidation with six other entities to form Coram. During this time, he also collaborated with his financial analyst to create an Excel budget workbook that Caremark and others subsequently used as the industry standard.
Mr. Fritch began his post-graduate career at Ernst & Ernst (subsequently, Ernst & Whinney and Ernst & Young), working first as an accounting research analyst in the national headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio, supporting partners, managers and clients worldwide, and then as an auditor and consultant in its Los Angeles and Orange County, California offices. During this period, he became most notable for his instrumental role in addressing major financial crises during his early consulting career. He was pivotal in recovery efforts for significant trust accounting failures -- including $27 billion and $52 billion trust system blowups faced by banks in Minnesota and California, respectively. Here, his analytical approach identified complex transaction discrepancies that traditional accounting methods overlooked. By recognizing a unique type of transaction error in these systems, he directly identified a pattern that resulted in reconciling $27 billion of the discrepancies in the California case -- a remarkable demonstration of thinking beyond conventional frameworks.
Mr. Fritch's academic background includes coursework toward a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in finance and management service at The University of California. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on accounting from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business in 1981. His professional credentials include certified public accountant and certified management accountant designations.
He attributes his success to a strong family foundation established by parents who survived the Great Depression and instilled a profound work ethic. His father's service in the Navy during the Korean War and subsequent engineering degree through the GI Bill provided an example of perseverance and dedication. Growing up with both parents working—his mother, a nurse, who remained home during his formative years—offered stability and values that shaped his character.
Mr. Fritch credits his natural mathematical aptitude and auditory learning style as key factors throughout his education and career development. While most people learn visually, he excelled through auditory means—a skill that proved advantageous during lectures and professional training sessions. Faith, family and friends have consistently guided his decisions and ethical code; he believes strongly in personal responsibility to care for others following the example set by Jesus Christ.
His decision to pursue accounting and finance stemmed from a desire to make a meaningful difference beyond traditional business roles—particularly within nonprofit organizations serving vulnerable populations such as individuals with disabilities or those affected by disasters. This commitment led him away from public accounting into nonprofit finance, where he could ensure resources reached those most in need.
Mr. Fritch's civic involvement is extensive. Since 2015, he has served as a board member for Faith Inclusion Network—a nonprofit dedicated to increasing opportunities for people with disabilities within faith communities across Hampton Roads. For more than four decades, since 1984, he has been an elder at his Presbyterian Church, where he teaches Sunday school and writes curriculum for Christian education programs that have been copyrighted under his name.
He is also recognized as a former board member of a local civic league, where he recently retired after contributing to neighborhood improvement initiatives. Throughout his life, he has coached baseball and soccer teams—demonstrating leadership both on the field and within community organizations.
Mr. Fritch's achievements have been acknowledged through several honors, including Teaching Assistant of the Year at The University of California, Berkeley; a scholarship award from The Ohio State University; selection among Ernst & Young's Top Four Recruitment; and receipt of a Certificate of Honor from The Consortium.
Born in Columbus, Mr. Fritch enjoys kayaking, boating on the lake near his home, which is adjacent to botanical gardens, hiking and traveling with his wife, whom he married in 1988. Together, they have raised four sons and eleven grandchildren living across the country; their second-oldest son served locally in the Navy, allowing them to have frequent family gatherings, including Sunday dinner nights with the grandchildren.
Looking ahead, Mr. Fritch plans to continue advancing Mercy Chefs' mission—ensuring it remains stronger than when he began — by creating sustainable templates for future leadership succession so that its impact endures long after his tenure concludes. Personally, he intends to travel internationally with his wife—having recently enjoyed their first trip abroad on a Rhine River cruise during tulip season—and aims to visit Italy and other European destinations while also checking off all 50 states on their bucket list. Additionally, he looks forward to spending more time with his elderly parents, who continue to inspire him with their wisdom and encouragement toward new experiences.
Throughout every chapter of his life—from professional milestones to personal pursuits—Mr. Fritch remains guided by faith-driven values rooted deeply in family tradition, responsibility, service, and compassion for others.
