RALEIGH, NC, May 29, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The personal injury attorneys at Younce, Vtipil, Baznik & Banks are dedicated to making a positive difference in people's lives. While that often means providing legal representation for injured North Carolinians, the firm strives to support its community whenever, however, and wherever it can.

One way their team fulfills that commitment is through their annual essay contest. Younce, Vtipil, Baznik & Banks awards a total of $3,000 in scholarship prizes to the winners. They hope these funds will help deserving students in North Carolina cover their college expenses, putting them one step closer to their educational and career goals. This year's applicants answered the question: Tell us about a contribution you have made to your community.

After reviewing many thoughtful and inspiring essays, Younce, Vtipil, Baznik & Banks is thrilled to recognize the winners of their 2026 scholarship competition:

First Place: Iman Ismail
Second Place: Erik Cabrera

Iman Ismail is the winner of the first-place prize – a $2,000 scholarship. Iman is passionate about ensuring her community never has to worry about food insecurity. By working with her church's food pantry, she strives to keep all her neighbors fed, paying special concern for people who are unhoused, elderly, or without a church home. Iman hopes to continue growing the program, with goals of attracting more volunteers, providing additional meals, and raising greater awareness.

Erik Cabrera is the second-place winner and will receive a $1,000 scholarship. The bilingual son of two Hispanic immigrants, Erik is proud of his heritage and leverages it to support his neighbors. Erik helps translate wherever he is – from his own school to the elementary school where he volunteers, to even stores and restaurants. He is pursuing an engineering degree so he can show kids in his local community that anything is possible if they work hard.

The attorneys at Younce, Vtipil, Baznik & Banks congratulate these accomplished and promising students, as well as recognize the excellent essays submitted by all applicants. The team wishes them the best of luck in college and their future careers and looks forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on the world.
