WILMINGTON, DE, May 23, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Kemal Erkan, MBA, FACMPE, founder and Chief Executive Officer of United Medical, LLC, and chairman of United Medical ACO, was awarded an honorary Doctor of Business Administration Degree during Goldey-Beacom College's recent Commencement Ceremony. President Colleen Perry-Keith presented the honor, which was conferred with all appropriate honors, rights, privileges, and responsibilities.
Dr. Erkan is himself a Goldey-Beacom alumnus; he previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems and dual Master of Business Administration degrees in Information Technology and Finance from the College. He continued to forge a strong academic relationship with the college, serving as an adjunct professor and also helping develop healthcare-related programs.
For all of his meaningful work done in partnership with the institution, as well as the leadership he displays in the healthcare administration sector, Dr. Kemal Erkan was formally bestowed this honor. Following his education, Dr. Erkan continued to make waves in the healthcare sector. He has built one of the most prominent ambulatory healthcare networks in Delaware and the Mid-Atlantic region. United Medical is a multi-specialty network, comprising more than 225 providers and serving over 325,000 patients. Thanks to Dr. Erkan's strong vision and healthcare expertise, the network continues to grow and change lives.
He has also been recognized by other associations for his innovative work in the healthcare space. Other awards he has received include the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) Lifetime Achievement Award, the MGMA Extraordinary Leader Award, the YWCA of Delaware Man of Distinction Award, and recognition from Delaware Business Times as one of the 222 Most Impactful Leaders in the State.
Outside of his work in healthcare, Dr. Kemal Erkan is also passionate about philanthropy and engaging with the local community. He serves on the Brandywine Valley SPCA Board, the YWCA Delaware Resilience Fund Advisory Committee, the Food Bank of Delaware's Development and Food as Medicine Committees, and more. Dr. Erkan highlights the important of civic participation through his community involvement, as well as hosting discussions with local leaders on his successful YouTube channel.
Dr. Kemal Erkan served as this year's featured speaker for Goldey-Beacom College's annual Commencement Ceremony. In his speech, he drew on his own personal experiences with his immigration from Turkey to the United States. While ambition got him to the front door, he underscored the important of discipline—showing up every day. Throughout the years, Dr. Erkan's daily commitment to excellence has led him to where he is today, and he hopes to inspire others to do the same.
