Ms. Cross has established a distinguished career in the legal field, currently serving as a legal assistant at Epstein Becker & Green P.C. since 2019. In this capacity, she plays an integral role in supporting attorneys with the preparation of briefs for submission to the federal districts and appellate courts. Her responsibilities include utilizing advanced software such as Litera to create legal document templates, Best Authority to generate tables of contents and authorities for multi-page briefs, and working within iManage Document Retention to keep case files organized to the best of her ability. She is also responsible for conducting thorough proofreading before documents are submitted for attorney review and filing.

Her professional journey began as a paralegal at Edelman, Combs, & Lattuner, LLC in 2002, where she gained foundational experience in legal research and case management. From 2004 to 2007, Ms. Cross held the position of legal secretary at Wolin, Kelter & Rosen Ltd., where she further honed her organizational skills and contributed to the efficient operation of the firm's legal team.

Prior to joining Epstein Becker & Green P.C., Ms. Cross was an organizer for Just Write Chicago from 2011 to 2019. In this role, she fostered a collaborative environment for writers across the city, encouraging creativity and community engagement. Concurrently, she served as a legal secretary at Littler between 2007 and 2019, where she supported attorneys with document preparation, docketing essential deadlines, and administrative tasks essential to litigation processes.

Currently, as a legal assistant at Epstein Becker & Green, P.C., Ms. Cross is recognized as the lead legal assistant for a high-profile federal case against the United States Department of Health and Human Services and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Among her most notable achievements is her pivotal contribution to this significant case in the District of Massachusetts, where she ensures that all deadlines are meticulously posted on the calendars of approximately eight attorneys representing plaintiffs. She also manages deadlines for three related federal appellate cases and is responsible for proofreading briefs and motions, demonstrating her exceptional attention to detail and commitment to team success.

As part of her ongoing commitment to the field, Ms. Cross has maintained several professional affiliations. From 2010 to 2019, as mentioned above, she served as an organizer for Just Write Chicago. She was also a member of the Chicago Nerd Social Club from 2013 to 2017 and served as an assistant organizer for the Chicago Skeptics from 2010 to 2014.

Ms. Cross also has a deep history of involvement with the Science Fiction and Fantasy Community, advocating for the representation of marginalized identities and stories within the genre. Between 2014 to 2019, she had spoken on and/or moderated several panels in nationally renowned Science Fiction and Fantasy conventions, such as the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (more commonly known as "C2E2") and WisCon - noted as the 1st feminist-centered Science Fiction and Fantasy Convention in the United States. In 2018-2019, she also served on WisCon's Convention Committee as the Programming Co-Chair.

She has also had the great privilege of being invited to be a speaker and moderator at the 2016 SFWA Nebula Conference. Between 2014 and 2017, she had been invited to speak at DePaul University's annual Celebration of Pop Culture Conferences. In 2015 and 2017, she had the honor of being invited to serve as a Guest Lecturer for DePaul University's College of Communication, Media Studies classes. She can never fully express her gratitude for having had the opportunity to import the necessity of representation within an academic setting.

Ms. Cross' academic background includes earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a minor in French from Boston University in Boston in 2002. This educational foundation has been instrumental in shaping her analytical abilities and cross-cultural communication skills, which have proven invaluable throughout her career. She became a notary public in the State of Illinois in 2021.

Ms. Cross' civic involvement includes donating clothing and accessories to Goodwill Industries International, reflecting her commitment to supporting those in need within her community.
Among her personal achievements, Ms. Cross is a former martial arts instructor. The rigorous training required for this accomplishment taught her to process pain constructively and fostered greater focus not only on herself but also on fellow students and do-jung mates. Ms. Cross' creative endeavors include projects centered on personal growth through martial arts philosophy, highlighting how this journey made her stronger and more dedicated.

Born in Harvey, Ms. Cross enjoys hiking, road trips, international travel, reading both fiction and nonfiction, and knitting during her leisure time. She is a fourth-generation devoted Chicago White Sox fan, a tradition that underscores her deep family roots in the region.

Looking ahead, Ms. Cross aspires to advance into the role of lead litigation assistant within her firm. She aims to strengthen cohesion among litigation support teams by supporting standardized training and sharing e-filing best practices across other offices.
