Between 2018 and 2022, he founded Delineation Professionals Inc., serving as president and senior wetland scientist. During his tenure as senior scientist at Parametrix in 2010, he played a key role in advancing scientific methodologies for natural resource management. From 2008 to 2010, Mr. Leyda was senior wetland scientist at PBS Engineering and Environmental (now Apex Companies LLC), where he led field investigations and technical reporting for major environmental projects.

In 2008, he served as natural resource division manager at Alkai Consultants LLC in Silverdale, Washington, overseeing resource management strategies for public and private sector clients. From 2005 to 2008, Mr. Leyda was structural drafter and environmental department head at Jones Engineers. He managed both design drafting operations and environmental compliance programs. His early career included five years as biologist at Cantrell & Associates Inc., from 2000 to 2005, where he gained foundational experience in biological assessment and field research.

Mr. Leyda's academic background includes a Master of Arts in biology from The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, earned in 1997, and a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from the University of New Orleans, completed in 1994. He also holds the designation of senior professional wetland scientist through the Society of Wetland Scientists Professional Certification Program from 2008 to 2028—a testament to his advanced knowledge and commitment to professional standards within the field.

Mr. Leyda is an active member of several industry organizations, including the Society of Wetland Scientists, the Society of Wetland Scientists Professional Certification Program and the Society for Ecological Restoration.
