Ramsey Elkholy and Monotronic Build a Living Soundscape on Waiting for You

LOS ANGELES, CA, June 06, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A deeply personal work where indie rock, pop, and indietronica intertwine with flashes of Eastern music and unexpected vocal textures, Waiting for You represents one of Ramsey Elkholy's most ambitious creative statements to date. As the founder, songwriter, producer, and creative force behind Monotronic, Ramsey Elkholy has crafted an album that feels less like a traditional collection of songs and more like an immersive sonic environment designed to pull listeners into its world.

Across eleven tracks, Ramsey Elkholy and Monotronic construct a layered musical universe that shifts fluidly between introspection, rhythm-driven energy, and atmospheric experimentation. Every song contributes to the album's evolving emotional landscape, creating a listening experience that feels expansive yet deeply personal. The record reflects Elkholy's long-standing interest in blending contrasting influences and moods into something cohesive, balancing electronic production with organic instrumentation and emotionally driven songwriting.

"Looking Away" opens the album with intensity and immediacy, establishing the emotional tone of the record while showcasing Ramsey Elkholy's strengths as both a songwriter and producer. The track combines cinematic textures with melodic hooks and layered instrumentation, immediately drawing the listener into Monotronic's world. While the album moves through a wide range of sounds and emotional states, the transitions never feel disconnected. Instead, Elkholy uses contrast intentionally, allowing opposing energies to coexist within the same creative framework.

"At the time of writing, I didn't see a common thread," says Ramsey Elkholy. "In fact, all the songs sounded so different to me, and I wondered how they would all hang together in an album format. However, with the benefit of hindsight, there are some strong overarching themes that became apparent. Self-realization and finding one's way in the world, through the trials and tribulations of life and love, are recurring themes on the record. There's a certain fatalism to the main characters in the songs, which draws upon a seemingly universal existential awareness of being alone in an uncertain world."

That emotional tension becomes especially apparent throughout the album's most dynamic moments. "Kids of Summer," driven by tribal-inspired percussion from legendary drummer Omar Hakim-known for his work with Daft Punk, David Bowie, and Foo Fighters-combines nostalgic emotion with hypnotic rhythm. Meanwhile, "Sun Song" offers one of the album's most reflective moments, creating a dreamlike atmosphere built around memory, longing, and melodic restraint. On "Everything Moves," Ramsey Elkholy and Monotronic return to a more upbeat blend of pop and indietronica, emphasizing movement, momentum, and layered production.

Elsewhere on Waiting for You, Ramsey Elkholy expands the album's sonic palette even further. "Kettle Song (Yama Yama)" stands out for its bold use of metallic percussion, gong textures, and Eastern-inspired tonalities, reflecting Elkholy's global musical influences and years spent traveling through Asia and Southeast Asia. By contrast, "In a Cloud" strips things back with a more acoustic and intimate approach, allowing space for vulnerability and quieter emotional detail while temporarily stepping away from the synth-heavy textures heard elsewhere on the album.

The album also reflects Ramsey Elkholy's broader artistic philosophy surrounding collaboration and collective creativity. Originally formed in New York City in 2016, Monotronic was conceived not as a conventional band but as an evolving musical collective where musicians contribute freely to a shared vision. That openness has allowed Elkholy to bring together collaborators from a wide range of musical backgrounds, creating a sound that remains fluid and difficult to categorize while still maintaining a strong identity.

Over the years, Ramsey Elkholy and Monotronic have steadily built momentum through critically recognized releases, visually ambitious music videos, and high-energy live performances. The project has received praise from outlets including Rolling Stone, Relix, Rock Cellar, and Hype Magazine, while several singles and videos have premiered at #1 on VEVO. As the project has evolved, Elkholy's ability to merge artistic ambition with accessibility has become one of Monotronic's defining characteristics.

With Waiting for You, Ramsey Elkholy reaches a defining moment creatively, delivering an album that feels expansive without losing focus and experimental without sacrificing emotional connection. The record succeeds because it embraces contrast-light and dark, movement and stillness, intimacy and scale-while remaining grounded in a clear artistic vision. It is an album that invites listeners not simply to hear the music, but to step inside it.

At its core, Waiting for You is about connection: connection between sounds, between influences, and ultimately between artist and audience. Through Monotronic, Ramsey Elkholy continues to push beyond genre limitations and conventional structures, creating music that resonates long after the final note fades.
