WASHINGTON, D.C., June 11, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Erica N. Johnson has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Johnson currently serves as Chief Financial Officer at the Center for Nonprofit Advancement, a role she has held since 2024. In this capacity, she manages the entire finance team and oversees all financial operations, including grants, projects and fiscal partnerships with nonprofit organizations. She administers fiscal sponsorship programs to support nonprofits lacking funding or credentials and manages grant programs and related financial activities. Dr. Johnson also teaches financial management classes for members and nonprofit leaders, directs grant disbursement programs and funding initiatives, leads monthly financial close processes and ensures accuracy of reporting.

Prior to her current position, Dr. Johnson was the Financial Controller at The Vipla Firm from 2011 to 2024. As founder of the firm, she specialized in providing financial, accounting, payroll, and bookkeeping services to corporations, individuals, nonprofits and small businesses. Under her leadership, The Vipla Firm expanded from a focus on bookkeeping clients to offering tax services. She ensured the firm remained female-driven by bringing on women accountants from her family and community, fostering a collaborative workspace where each team member managed their own clients while working together during tax season.

Overlapping with his role, from 2021 to 2024, Dr. Johnson served as an Adjunct Professor at Howard Community College, where she taught business communications and business ethics. Her commitment to education extended earlier in her career when she spent four years teaching high school business and accounting courses, including financial math and career preparedness classes that offered college credits in partnership with a technical school. She also worked as a judicial accountant at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia from 2019 to 2020, where she transitioned from a GS employee to a judicial employee within the judicial system.

Dr. Johnson's experience also includes serving as a program management analyst at the Federal Highway Administration from 2016 to 2017. Before that, she was a resource analyst at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center for one year and a senior cost accountant at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center for four years. During her five-year tenure with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory within the NASA management office, she automated the accounting system by developing a script that streamlined processes for the cost team. Her innovative contributions were recognized with the Silver Medal of Achievement Award in 2015.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Johnson was a training instructor and internal coordinator with the United States Department of Agriculture from 2010 to 2011. Among her most notable achievements was securing accreditation for the education departments of 32 Job Corps centers, a complex process requiring extensive coordination across all centers involved.

In honor of her achievements, Dr. Johnson is recognized for her expertise in process optimization and efficiency, data analysis, forensic accounting and end-to-end process improvement. She is also an active member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council, contributing articles that address strategies for marketing and finance within the nonprofit sector, as well as issues related to nonprofits overstating profits through the misuse of restricted and unrestricted funds.

Academically, Dr. Johnson's background includes earning a Doctor of Business Administration in international business from Walden University in 2014 and a Master of Business Administration in business administration in 2010 and a Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance in 2008, both from the University of Phoenix. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in interior design from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2006 and has enhanced her qualifications with a certification in coaching for impact from Chase For Business and a certification in applied generative artificial intelligence from The Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Dr. Johnson attributes her success to her family's unwavering support as well as her curiosity and willingness to embrace new opportunities. Her background in interior design has contributed to her organizational skills, while her eagerness to learn has driven her participation in diverse experiences throughout her career.

Dr. Johnson also credits several mentors with shaping her career, most notably Lauren Philips, who was affiliated with NASA. Early in her accounting career, Dr. Johnson tended to prioritize speed over precision. Ms. Philips played a pivotal role in refining her approach, emphasizing the importance of methodical, detail-oriented work. The discipline and perspective Dr. Johnson gained from this mentorship continue to influence both her professional practice and personal endeavors.

Outside her professional life, Dr. Johnson was civically engaged as executive director of More than a Protest since 2020 and has volunteered with the Community Service Committee of The Krewe of Pyros Foundation Inc. since 2019. She previously served as Chief Financial Officer for NSBE Aerospace Special Interest Group and has contributed as a board member, business advisor or volunteer staff for The Hustlers Guild, Friends of Anacostia Park Finance Board and the Speech Therapy Company.

In her personal life, Dr. Johnson enjoys decorating and working in interior design. In the upcoming years, she is dedicated to supporting her stepson's growth while continuing to develop resources for others. She is currently working on a self-help book addressing various aspects of accounting with plans for additional volumes focused on budgeting strategies for individuals, small businesses and nonprofits alike.
