CARLSBAD, CA, June 11, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Linda Loftin has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Loftin has served as the owner of Lsloftin Firm known under similar entity names in Carlsbad since 1980, marking a distinguished tenure of nearly 50 years in the legal profession. She established her firm as a sole proprietor while raising two young daughters as a single parent. Despite receiving offers from the Attorney General's office and several prominent law firms, Ms. Loftin chose to build her own practice to maintain a balanced family life, declining positions that demanded extensive hours and weekend commitments.
Ms. Loftin's early legal experience included serving as a law clerk for both the Attorney General's office and the public defenders before securing a pivotal role with a family-owned firm. There, she assisted an owner with a keen interest in mobile home park law, contributing to the firm's first writing and participating in the landmark appellate case Palmer v. Agee under the mobile home residency law.
After graduating in December 1979 and earning her license in May of the following year, Ms. Loftin was entrusted with representing the firm in a significant litigation matter while the owners traveled abroad. She successfully argued against five attorneys from leading state firms specializing in mobile home parks, handling all motions and ultimately prevailing, a formative experience that launched her career in litigation and mobile home park law.
Throughout her career, Ms. Loftin has consistently focused on real estate matters, drawing on her upbringing in Oklahoma, where she gained firsthand experience with land issues on farms and ranches. Her expertise expanded as she represented large developers, including Lennar and others until the 2008 market crash.
At that time, real estate development comprised approximately 60% to 65% of Ms. Loftin's firm's income. The sudden halt in business forced her to make difficult decisions, including withdrawing retirement savings and taking out a home equity loan to sustain operations. She reduced her staff from nearly 28 employees to about 13 to 15 and relocated the firm from the UTC area to Carlsbad, where it remains based. Ms. Loftin has continued to represent developers of a variety of projects.
A defining achievement in Ms. Loftin's career was representing residents in the purchase of Capistrano Shores Mobile Home Park commencing in 2007. She enabled residents to acquire ownership of their park, a complex transaction valued at $100 million for 90 spaces that many considered unattainable and managed litigation against the City and Coastal Commission.
In 2019, Ms. Loftin welcomed her daughter as a shareholder after her daughter's tenure at a major law firm's real estate division specializing in securities related to real estate. While her daughter developed expertise in mobile home park law, Ms. Loftin continued to handle complex real estate litigation and serves as general counsel for several large firms, overseeing local counsel hires and reviewing occupancy documents and litigation matters. Ms. Loftin has also been engaged as Special Counsel for local jurisdictions related to land use and mobile home parks.
Ms. Loftin is an active member of several professional organizations, including the San Diego Bar Association, where she has volunteered for various committees supporting seniors and participated on the mediation panel. She is also co-chair of the Real Estate Section of the North County Bar Association and a member of The Irish American Bar Association of New York.
Ms. Loftin's academic background includes earning a Juris Doctor from Western State Law School in San Diego in 1979 and a Bachelor of Arts from Oklahoma City University. In addition to her education, Ms. Loftin attributes her success to values instilled by her classical upbringing — hard work, resilience in the face of adversity and hope — shaped by growing up in a less privileged environment.
Beyond her legal practice, Ms. Loftin has maintained a strong record of civic engagement. She has served for 30 years on the California Ballet Board, is a past president of the Girls Club and has held multiple roles with the San Diego County Bar Association, including its senior mentoring program and mediation panel. Her community involvement also includes service on committees supporting seniors, board membership with New Village Arts and ongoing support of local theater organizations such as The Brook Theatre, Sunshine Theater and North County small theaters.
Ms. Loftin's professional excellence has been recognized through numerous honors. These distinctions include being named a Distinguished Lawyer, earning placement among the Top 100 Lawyers, and ranking among the Top Two Attorneys in California for real estate law. She has also received two California Assembly Awards for her contributions to the performing arts, along with a California Senate Award. In addition, her community and artistic involvement have been acknowledged through multiple New Village Arts Awards and several California Ballet Awards.
Born in Hugo, Ms. Loftin enjoys hiking, walking her cat and dog, spending time with grandchildren, practicing yoga and weight training, skiing and engaging with dance and performing arts. Looking ahead, she remains committed to fostering appreciation for opportunities available within this country by sharing her experiences through bar association involvement, theater support and speaking engagements as an attorney. Ms. Loftin seeks to inspire others by demonstrating that perseverance and hard work can overcome even the most challenging circumstances.
