In addition to his work at Privia Health, Dr. Buckley has been a member and equity owner of Elkhart Clinic, a physician-owned limited liability company, since 2001. He was elected by his peers to serve as chairman of the board, a role he held for 12 years across six consecutive terms. After stepping down to encourage new leadership, he was reelected three years later following his successor's departure. Under his stewardship, Elkhart Clinic has proudly maintained its independence as the last physician-owned multispecialty clinic in Indiana.

Dr. Buckley also contributed significantly to Elkhart Hospital, where he served as chief of staff for two years. In this capacity, he provided oversight and direction for medical staff operations, further demonstrating his leadership abilities within the Indiana healthcare community.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Buckley worked as a hospitalist at Pekin Hospital in Pekin, Illinois, from 1998 to 2001. Notably, he fulfilled this role before the hospitalist specialty was formally established, reflecting his forward-thinking approach and adaptability within evolving medical landscapes.

Prior to his tenure at Pekin Hospital, Dr. Buckley practiced as a general internist at Laporte Hospital in Indiana for just over two years. His dedication to comprehensive patient care during this period laid a strong foundation for his subsequent achievements in internal medicine.

Alongside his primary roles, Dr. Buckley has been actively involved in several professional organizations that advance the field of medicine. He is an active member of the Indiana State Medical Association and has served as president of both the District 13 Medical Society — which represents six counties — and the Elkhart Medical Society.

Hailing from an equally accomplished academic background, Dr. Buckley earned a Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1992 after completing a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and biology at Valparaiso University in 1988. His postgraduate training included a one-year appointment as chief resident of internal medicine at Methodist Hospital from 1995 to 1996, following the completion of a residency in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis in 1995.

Dedicated to the ideals of continuous learning, Dr. Buckley completed Privia Health's Clinical Leadership Program through the Center for Human Capital Innovation in 2026. Based in Washington, D.C., this selective one-year initiative admits only 24 participants nationwide and allowed him to further hone his leadership skills within clinical settings.

Reflecting on his storied journey to date, Dr. Buckley attributes much of his success to working alongside partners who share a vision of prioritizing patients over profit — a philosophy that continues to guide his approach to medicine and leadership. His professional achievements have seen him honored with multiple accolades over the years, including being recognized as a fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Outside of his work in medicine, Dr. Buckley is an avid sailor who has taken classes and sailed across both the Caribbean and Mediterranean seas. He regularly enjoys sailing on Lake Michigan and looks forward to sharing this passion with more members of his family.
