PAULINA, LA, June 25, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Heidi V. Cashio, MAT, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Cashio has built a distinguished career spanning education, business, and military service, with expertise in special education, business management, career and technical education, and instructional leadership. In 2026, she accepted the role of master teacher with St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District, where she continues to make a meaningful impact on both students and colleagues. Among her most notable professional achievements is her work with students with significant disabilities in alternate assessment classrooms.

In her career, Ms. Cashio has helped students who were previously disengaged or nonresponsive become active participants in classroom activities, develop essential life skills, and successfully integrate into the school environment. Under her guidance, students exceeded expectations and achieved success on the LEAP Connect assessment for three consecutive years despite challenges that included severe behavioral needs. She considers seeing every student meet their goals and experience academic success to be among her greatest accomplishments.

In addition to her work in education, Ms. Cashio is the owner of Cajun House and Catering, where she utilizes her business expertise to oversee operations and provide quality service. Her entrepreneurial endeavors have further strengthened her leadership skills and ability to adapt to diverse professional settings.

Before entering the field of education, Ms. Cashio served honorably in the United States Navy from 1993 to 1999, attaining the rank of Aviation Storekeeper Second Class. During her military career, she earned numerous commendations, including a Letter of Commendation for Superior Performance, the Battle "E" Award, the NATO Service Medal, the Armed Forces Service Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

Committed to continuous professional growth, Ms. Cashio was selected to participate in the Louisiana Aspiring Principal Fellowship for the 2025–2026 cohort, an experience that further reinforced her dedication to educational leadership and school improvement.

Ms. Cashio earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2002. She also holds Educational Leader Level I certification. Her journey to education began after attending trade school and serving in the military. Prior to becoming an educator, she worked in the temporary staffing industry and with Enterprise Leasing, advancing from manager's assistant to account executive. Inspired by a lifelong passion for teaching and a desire to make a difference in the lives of children, she ultimately transitioned into education.

Over the course of her teaching career, Ms. Cashio has served in a variety of roles, including general education teacher, mentor teacher, behavior intervention teacher, and special education instructor. She began her career teaching fourth-grade general education before spending three years teaching fifth-grade English Language Arts. She then advanced to the role of TAP mentor teacher, where she supported instructional excellence and teacher development. Returning to the classroom, she served as a Behavior Intervention Program teacher before teaching special education at an Alternative Center for four years, followed by an additional year in special education. She later spent two years teaching students in an alternate assessment classroom and one year teaching third-grade mathematics in a virtual setting. Ms. Cashio then served for six years as an IEP and Special Programs Facilitator before returning to the classroom, where she taught students in an alternate assessment setting for three years. In 2026, she accepted her current role as a master teacher, continuing her commitment to supporting both students and educators.

Outside of her professional responsibilities, Ms. Cashio remains active in her community through her involvement with Disabled American Veterans. She has organized Veterans Day programs, coordinated Black History Month events, served on curriculum planning teams, and coached youth baseball. These experiences reflect her commitment to honoring service, promoting cultural awareness, and supporting young people both inside and outside the classroom.

Born in Lutcher, Louisiana, Ms. Cashio places a high value on family. She enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her husband and children, and watching sports in her leisure time. Looking toward the future, she aspires to continue serving students and educators in leadership roles, including assistant principal or principal positions, where she can make an even greater impact.
