His ability to rapidly develop expertise in various subject areas proved invaluable in this role, enabling him to deliver high-quality counsel across a range of complex legal matters.

Also recognized for his contributions toward the educational sector, Mr. Wertkin worked as an adjunct professor at the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University in Washington D.C. from 2013 to 2017. Sharing his knowledge with future leaders in public policy, he taught his students about federal administrative law and the intricacies of how agencies conduct business.

Earlier in his journey, from 2010 to 2016, Mr. Wertkin served as a trial attorney at the United States Department of Justice. In this capacity, he represented the government in high-stakes litigation matters and worked as a public advocate to enforce the civil False Claims Act and maintain the legal rights of private citizens.

Mr. Wertkin began his legal career as an associate attorney at Patton Boggs LLP (now Squire Patton Boggs) in Washington D.C., where he excelled from 2003 to 2010. This foundational experience allowed him to cultivate his expertise in civil litigation cases and public policy matters with a focus on environmental and healthcare legislation.

Though his career counts many milestones, Mr. Wertkin considers his most significant achievement to be his ability to quickly master new subjects and new challenges. Mr. Wertkin's equally impressive academic background is distinguished by a PhD in American government and politics from Georgetown University, which he completed in 2008. He also holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown Law, earned in 2002, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Haverford College, awarded in 1998. Expanding his horizons by studying abroad for a year, he completed coursework in political science and government at The London School of Economics and Political Science in 1997.
