CHICAGO, IL, June 29, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Samantha Sims has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Sims has established a distinguished career in education, marked by dedication and innovation over more than 25 years. Since 2000, she has served as an English teacher within Chicago Public Schools, where she currently teaches three English classes for juniors at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School. Her instruction emphasizes listening, speaking, writing and literature-based learning, while also preparing students for the ACT. In addition to her classroom responsibilities, she co-teaches two asynchronous college courses for 11th and 12th graders through the Equity Lab, a partnership between Chicago Public Schools, Arizona University and Wesleyan University.

Ms. Sims's tenure at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School spans 20 years, during which she has taught English at every high school level. This breadth of experience has enabled her to develop a comprehensive understanding of student needs at each stage of their education. She is known for integrating technology into her teaching practices, continually seeking new ways to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes. Her deep love for children is reflected in her unwavering commitment to her students, as she routinely arrives at school by 6 a.m., remains available well into the evening and even dedicates weekends to supporting their academic and personal growth, all with the steadfast encouragement of her family.

Prior to joining Chicago Public Schools, Ms. Sims spent five years as a teacher at Austin High School. Throughout her professional journey, she has been actively involved in several industry-related organizations, including the Chicago Teachers Union and IFT. She is also deeply engaged in extracurricular and leadership roles within her school community. As a former member of the Principal Problems Committee and the Instructional Leadership Team at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School, she helps shape school policy and instructional strategies. Additionally, she co-advises the King College Prep chapter of the National Honor Society under the National Association of Secondary School Principals and serves as an advisor for the King College Prep Illinois Music Honor Society.

Ms. Sims's commitment extends beyond the classroom through volunteer work at senior homes and her ongoing support of student organizations. Her dedication has been recognized with various accolades, such as third place in Teacher of the Year at Austin High School.

Among Ms. Sims's most cherished achievements are the relationships she has built with students and alumni. She takes particular pride in welcoming former students who return to speak with current classes, viewing these moments as affirmations of her impact as an educator. The Teacher Appreciation Day cards she has received over the past 25 years hold special significance for her, serving as tangible reminders of her influence on generations of learners. Witnessing students graduate and pursue their ambitions remains a source of profound satisfaction.

Ms. Sims's own academic background includes a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Loyola University Chicago, earned in 2007 and a Bachelor of Arts in secondary teaching in English from Chicago State University. In addition to her education, she credits her success to hard work, family support and a commitment to reflection—principles she instills in her students by encouraging them to value feedback and self-assessment.

Ms. Sims's upbringing in Chicago was shaped by a family devoted to education; her mother is a retired teacher from the Archdiocese Catholic school system, her sister is also an educator, and her niece serves as an assistant principal after previously working as an educator herself. This environment fostered Ms. Sims's passion for teaching and provided a foundation of love and encouragement that continues to inspire her work.

Outside of her professional life, Ms. Sims enjoys spending time with family, exploring new restaurants, shopping and practicing self-care. She shares her home with her mother and daughter, finding joy in their daily interactions and mutual support.

Looking ahead, Ms. Sims is eager to expand her expertise by pursuing additional coursework focused on integrating artificial intelligence into education, as well as advanced reading and writing strategies to address literacy challenges among students who have fallen behind. Her ongoing commitment to professional growth reflects her dedication to empowering students to achieve their fullest potential.
