EAST NORRITON, PA, June 29, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kristoffer Jones has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With a particular focus on castings and forgings, Mr. Jones has established a distinguished career in the field of materials science and engineering. As the United States Navy Maritime Industrial Base market lead for raw materials at the Naval Sea Systems Command, he plays a pivotal role in supporting the Department of Defense. His expertise in casting and forging is highly regarded as he contributes significantly to construction projects, in-service Naval platforms and the advancement of maritime industrial capabilities.
Prior to reaching his current role at the Naval Sea Systems Command, Mr. Jones served as the Columbia Class CFE manager from 2022 to 2024 and was the materials systems integration team lead from 2018 to 2022. During this period, he was instrumental in supporting the development of the next generation of ballistic submarines. His work involved direct engagement with vendors and shipbuilders, welding and nondestructive testing, facilitating the successful transition from legacy submarines to new classes.
In addition to his contributions to the Department of Defense, Mr. Jones is the founder and chief executive officer of the Naval Welding Institute, established in 2019. The institute is dedicated to advancing manufacturing education by partnering with scholastic institutions to align advanced manufacturing instruction with defense needs. Under his leadership, the institute emphasizes welding and nondestructive testing in the process of shipbuilding, providing valuable training opportunities for students, transitioning veterans, commercial welders and underrepresented individuals throughout the STEM sector.
Mr. Jones' storied career began at the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center in Philadelphia, where he started as a materials engineer in 2009 and gained valuable experience in quality control analysis, safety surveillance and laboratory testing. He quickly progressed to become a full-fledged engineer by 2012 and advanced to the position of senior materials engineer and metallurgist by 2018. One of his notable achievements during this time was developing a specification for Navy propellers in 2014, marking a significant early milestone in his professional journey.
Drawing on an equally robust academic background, Mr. Jones holds a Bachelor of Science in materials science and engineering from Drexel University, which he completed in 2012. He furthered his education with a Master of Arts in executive leadership from Liberty University in 2017 and obtained a master certificate in supply chain management and procurement from Michigan State University in 2021. His scholastic journey equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of technical and leadership aspects as well as engineering ethics and metals processing.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Jones is a volunteer educator who provides exposure to advanced manufacturing training and engineering opportunities at various colleges. His dedication to education is reflected in his efforts to open avenues for individuals interested in the shipbuilding and manufacturing fields. He aims to partner with additional universities globally to establish standardized training openings for ship manufacturing, particularly as the industry continues to expand in the wake of collaborative shipbuilding efforts between the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.
Mr. Jones' contributions have been recognized through various accolades, including being named among Drexel University's "40 Under 40" in 2023 and receiving recognition from the United States Navy for having high potential. Looking back on his success thus far, he is especially grateful to his mentors Bruce Terry and Sheldon Smith, both of whom were technical leads and provided valuable guidance and learning opportunities, as well as Matthew Sherman, a senior executive in the United States Navy, for his support and leadership. Having established a legacy of excellence in engineering and metallurgy, he continues to advance the field positively while focusing on creating opportunities for future generations within the shipbuilding industry.
