BUFFALO, NY, July 09, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ayan DasGupta has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. DasGupta's distinguished career in banking and finance spans three decades of leadership, innovation, and commitment to talent development. As a senior leader at M&T Bank from 1996 to 2026, he played a significant role in the company's transformation, building and coaching high-performing, diverse teams while guiding complex initiatives from ideation through execution.

Known for his outcomes-driven approach, Mr. DasGupta has demonstrated expertise in process optimization, decision-making, accountability, controls, change management, and industry best practices. He has also served as a trusted advisor and partner to C-suite executives, boards, regulators, investors, and community leaders.

His expertise in mergers and acquisitions has distinguished him as a strategic leader. During his tenure, he helped guide M&T through 26 major acquisitions while maintaining a disciplined focus on shareholders and thoughtful deal-making. This approach supported stability and growth, contributing to M&T's uncommon record of stock price resilience following major acquisition announcements, including one week, one month, and even 10 years after deal announcements.

In 1996, M&T reported assets of $12.9 billion, net income of $151.1 million, market capitalization of $2.3 billion, and 5,180 employees. Today, the company reports assets of $214.7 billion, net income of $3.0 billion, market capitalization of $34.5 billion, and more than 22,808 employees. Much of this evolution occurred through strategic inorganic growth, which helped expand M&T's contributions to the communities it serves.

Throughout his tenure, Mr. DasGupta placed particular emphasis on talent acquisition and development, which he regards as one of his most meaningful professional achievements. Under his guidance, several team members advanced into senior roles, with some remaining with the organization for more than 15 years.

Alongside his primary work at M&T, Mr. DasGupta is professionally affiliated with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the India Association of Buffalo, reflecting his ongoing engagement with industry peers and the broader financial community. His academic foundation includes a Master of Business Administration in accounting and finance from the University of Rochester's Simon Business School, which he completed with honors in 1996.

Reflecting on his career, Mr. DasGupta attributes much of his success to common sense, a quality he believes is essential for solving complex problems. His guiding principle is to focus on fundamentals and avoid overlooking basic yet effective solutions.

Beyond his corporate achievements, Mr. DasGupta has demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement and philanthropy. He has served as an advisor to charitable, academic, and business boards and forums, and was honored as Person of the Year by the India Association of Buffalo in 2019. He draws inspiration from his father, a renowned neurologist who worked closely with Mother Teresa, established free clinics and schools, and served multiple terms as chairman of the World Neurology Organization, leading global initiatives in epilepsy research.

With the support of a broader team, Mr. DasGupta helped establish medical facilities in underserved regions in his father's name. One facility provides dialysis and intensive care services, while another, currently in development, is expected to provide diagnostic blood tests, computed tomography scans, and magnetic resonance imaging scans, delivering free health care services to individuals and families in significant need.

In his personal life, Mr. DasGupta is devoted to his family and is proud of his son's upbringing and education in an environment that emphasizes core values. To balance his professional responsibilities, he maintains an active lifestyle through interests such as golf, decorating, and cooking.

Looking ahead, Mr. DasGupta remains focused on supporting communities through meaningful contributions and pursuing opportunities that prioritize people over profit. He continues to be approached for leadership roles in cities including Buffalo, New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston, reflecting his reputation as a transformative leader dedicated to making a lasting difference.
