PEMBROKE PINES, FL, July 09, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- John J. Murnane has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Murnane has established a distinguished career in accounting and financial services, marked by nearly four decades of expertise as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) serving the credit union and banking industries. Since 2019, he has served as practice leader of the firm's Financial Institutions Group at Doeren Mayhew, a top 40 U.S. CPA firm, where he leads a team focused on providing comprehensive services to banks and credit unions throughout the United States. In this capacity, Murnane manages the practice addressing executive-level challenges, including human resources, strategic planning, marketing initiatives, mergers & acquisitions and ongoing collaboration with principals and managers to ensure operational excellence. Doeren Mayhew provides 10 service lines of business to financial institutions across the U.S., including financial statement audits, internal audit services, regulatory compliance, and mergers and acquisition consulting to name a few. He is also responsible for leading the coordination of three educational conferences and continues to advise a select group of his largest and longest-standing clients. Murnane also works diligently on firm-related matters as a member of the firm's Management Committee.

Murnane's tenure with Doeren Mayhew began in 2015 following the merger of Orth, Chakler, Murnane & Co., the firm he co-founded in 1996. In 2019, he assumed the position of practice leader of the Financial Institutions Group and has played an integral role in maintaining the organization's leading position in the industry ranking as the No. 1 firm providing audit services to the credit union industry.

The foundation of Murnane's professional legacy was established during his time as a partner at Orth, Chakler, Murnane & Co. from 1996 to 2015. The firm's inception was both a personal and professional milestone for him fulfilling a long-held ambition to run a business, a goal he first articulated during a 1987 job interview with an individual who would later become one of his partners. The early years were marked by significant challenges to establish the practice. However, over the subsequent 19 years, Murnane and his partners grew Orth, Chakler, Murnane & Co. into a leading practice specializing in serving credit unions from the early 2000's to 2015—a testament to its sustained performance and reputation.

Prior to founding his own firm, Mr. Murnane began his career at Nearman & Lents, P.A., where he worked from 1987 to 1996. There, he specialized in providing accounting services to banks and credit unions, laying the groundwork for his lifelong focus on this sector.

Throughout his career, Murnane has demonstrated exceptional expertise in accounting and consulting for financial institutions, particularly credit unions, and is widely regarded as an authority in this field. He is an active member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Murnane's academic background includes dual Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in accounting and finance from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, earned in 1987. His education provided him with a strong foundation in both disciplines, which he equally enjoys, and has enabled him to work extensively across both areas throughout his career.

He attributes his professional success primarily to a disciplined focus on delivering exceptional client service. Recognizing that technical competency alone does not differentiate a firm, Murnane and his partners built their practice around responsiveness and urgency, addressing client needs promptly and consistently exceeding client expectations. This service-first philosophy has been central to his approach and instrumental in driving his long-term success.

Beyond his professional achievements, Murnane is actively involved in civic life and charitable endeavors. He has served as president of his local homeowners' association for the past 15 years and treasurer of its master association. He regularly participates in charity golf events hosted by clients and corporate foundations, including an annual fundraising event in Phoenix, Arizona, that generates between $750,000 and $1 million for the Phoenix Children's Hospital. He is also a financial contributor to client foundations partnered with the Children's Miracle Network and he supports Victory Junction in South Carolina, a camp founded by Richard Petty providing week-long experiences for children with severe disabilities.

Murnane's professional accomplishments have been recognized through several honors, including leading Doeren Mayhew to the top ranking of CPA firms serving the credit union industry. Other personal accomplishments include playing on the University of Miami Golf Team, a recent first place finish at the Phoenix, Arizona, charity golf tournament team championship in 2025; and winning an adult hockey league team championship.

Born in Mount Prospect, Illinois, Murnane relocated from the Chicago area to attend the University of Miami, drawn by both academic opportunities and the chance to play on the university's golf team. Sports remain an important part of his life; he continues to play golf frequently and has been a season ticket holder for the Florida Panthers hockey team since their inception in 1993. He remains passionate about athletics coaching in various sports, including coaching his two son's baseball teams from youth to high school.

In his personal life, Mr. Murnane values family above all else, considering marriage and raising children among his proudest achievements, alongside his rise to a leadership position in his profession. He has been married for 26 years and has two boys, ages 23 and 20.

Looking ahead, Murnane intends to leverage his extensive business network, golfing experience and fundraising knowledge gained through client tournaments to support charitable foundations more actively following retirement from full-time practice management responsibilities. Additionally, he hopes to return to coaching youth baseball, pursue golf coaching or teach accounting to high school and college students.

Murnane's career reflects unwavering dedication to client service, leadership within his firm and the Financial Institutions Group, and meaningful engagement with community causes, all qualities that have defined both his professional journey and personal aspirations.
