BOCA RATON, FL, July 16, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leonard Grunstein has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Grunstein's distinguished career reflects a trajectory marked by leadership, innovation and expertise in law, banking and real estate finance. Most recently, he has served as chairman of the board at Beit Midrash of Teaneck since 2018, where his guidance has been instrumental in shaping the organization's direction and impact. His commitment to community and education is further evidenced by his ongoing role as a board member at the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies at Yeshiva University, beginning in 2013.

From 2013 to 2019, Mr. Grunstein was a managing member of both Hanlen Real Estate Development & Funding LLC and Hanlen Healthcare Development & Funding LLC. For the preceding seven years, he held the position of senior partner and head of the real estate capitalization group at Troutman Sanders LLP, now known as Troutman Pepper Locke. His tenure was marked by his adept handling of complex real estate transactions and capital markets initiatives. Concurrently, from 2006 to 2007, he served as chairman of Israel Discount Bank of New York, leading a group that acquired an international bank and guided it through a pivotal year.

Prior to these roles, Mr. Grunstein held several tenures in the real estate finance industry. He was a senior partner at Jenkens & Gilchrist from 2002 to 2005 and founded and served as chairman of Metropolitan National Bank.

Mr. Grunstein's earlier career includes a long-standing partnership at Herrick, Feinstein LLP from 1978 to 2002. There, he played a central role in numerous high-profile real estate transactions, such as cooperative and condominium conversions and development projects, including public private developments like Battery Park City. His expertise also extended into academia as an adjunct professor of law at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University.

Additionally, Mr. Grunstein founded New York Federal Savings Bank in 1990, serving as secretary and board member until 1999. He also served as assistant corporation counsel for the City of New York from 1976 to 1977, where he contributed to landmark projects, including the redevelopment of the Commodore Hotel into the Grand Hyatt Hotel and the conversion of the St. George Hotel. He also acted as counsel to the mayor's Midtown Office of Development during this period.

Educationally, Mr. Grunstein's academic foundation includes a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in New York City, conferred in 1975. He previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science with magna cum laude honors from Queens College in 1972. Beyond his formal education, he credits his father for instilling perseverance in him.

His transition from law to banking was inspired by Mr. Grunstein's keen observation of unmet needs within real estate finance. Recognizing that small business owners required access to loans under one million dollars for property acquisition—a niche underserved by larger banks—he established his first bank with this mission at its core. The institution flourished under his leadership before being sold following a compelling offer.

Mr. Grunstein's civic engagement is extensive. He was the founder and founding chairman of Project Ezrah, which, since 2001, has helped thousands turn their lives around, becoming financially stable and self-sufficient within the community. He also serves on various boards, including Friends of JCT, Museum of the Western Wall Foundation, Young Israel of Staten Island and Boca Raton Synagogue. As creator of the Not-for-Profit Law Center Condominium, he has contributed innovative solutions for nonprofit organizations.

Mr. Grunstein's professional excellence has been recognized through his designation as an AV Preeminent Lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell in 2010, his selection as a Super Lawyer by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2006 and his membership in The Phi Beta Kappa Society. A prolific author and researcher, he has written extensively on law, finance and public policy, including notable works published in The Banking Law Journal, Small Business Journal, New York Law Journal and Real Estate Finance Journal. He also contributes regularly to The Times of Israel, Jewish News Syndicate, Israel National News and Newsmax.

Among his most notable scholarly achievements is co-authoring a book on Jerusalem titled, "Because It's Just and Right: The Untold Back-Story of the US Recognition of Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel," a meticulously researched, well reasoned and irrefutable, as well as deeply inspiring account of how the United States recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and why this historic decision was legally sound, historically correct and just and right.

Outside his professional pursuits, Mr. Grunstein enjoys writing and participating actively in communal affairs alongside his wife and three children. He takes particular pride in his family legacy, with great-grandchildren among his most cherished accomplishments; he hopes to leave his legacy for their benefit. Looking ahead, he remains committed to serving on boards dedicated to education, philanthropy and community advancement well into the future.
