"Anybody can dance because music and dance is therapy." — Lorena Gomez Maese

LOS ANGELES, CA, July 06, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The elegant rhythms of Spanish dance and a powerful message of inclusion danced into the 2026 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books as MainSpring Books featured VIP Author Lorena Gomez-Maese introduced her heartfelt children's book, The Spanish Swan Ballet. Connecting with families and young readers on April 18–19 at the University of Southern California campus, Lorena shared the inspiration behind her story during a featured book signing and an exclusive author interview.

Recognized as one of the nation's most celebrated literary gatherings, the weekend event has connected readers, authors, and publishers since its founding in 1996. Drawing more than 150,000 visitors annually, the showcase continues to champion the accessibility of literature through author discussions, vibrant family programming, educational activities, and community engagement.

At the booth, Lorena introduced attendees to The Spanish Swan Ballet, an inspirational story set in the beautiful backdrop of Granada, Spain. The narrative follows Faith, a young girl with a disability who dreams of becoming the next "Spanish Swan." Guided by a caring teacher known as La Maestra, Faith learns that true achievement comes from perseverance, confidence, and believing in oneself. Through dedication and encouragement, she ultimately fulfills her dream and earns the title she has long admired.

Lorena explained that the narrative was inspired by the traditions and rich cultural experiences that shaped her own upbringing. Through Faith's journey, The Spanish Swan Ballet encourages young readers to embrace their unique abilities, pursue their dreams, and recognize that physical limitations do not define a person's potential.

Festival goers and fellow authors had the opportunity to meet Lorena, learn more about the book's message, and explore how storytelling can foster empathy, confidence, and acceptance. The author's appearance reinforced the grand event's longstanding commitment to showcasing diverse voices and stories that inspire readers of all ages. Providing readers the opportunity to discover meaningful works from independent creators and connect directly with the inspiring minds behind them.
