AURORA, CO, July 17, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Josephine Burton has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mrs. Burton currently serves as the Executive Director and Founder of The Next Chapter Foundation Inc., a nonprofit organization she established in 2019 to connect individuals in need with job placement services, mentorship and educational support programs. Coordinating with sponsors, securing donations and managing funding streams, she has guided the foundation from its inception to full operational status while ensuring that all departments function cohesively.
Diligently overseeing each executive division, Mrs. Burton tracks performance metrics to ensure compliance with Colorado state requirements for grants and other funding sources. Under her leadership, The Next Chapter has become a vital resource for individuals in need of a second chance after being incarcerated as well as those navigating mental health challenges or seeking life skills training.
Prior to founding her nonprofit entity, Mrs. Burton demonstrated remarkable perseverance by working at an airport and delivering for DoorDash; through these roles, she saved $60,000 to fund the launch of her organization. Her commitment to hard work and self-sufficiency was evident as she balanced multiple jobs while preparing to realize her vision for community service.
Mrs. Burton is recognized as an expert in the mental health community, a distinction earned through both professional dedication and personal experience. She developed an innovative artificial intelligence backend system and crafted a unique curriculum for her mental health program titled "S.E.E.D." — a self-educating and empowering resource for developers that addresses critical topics such as self-esteem, goal setting and cognitive thinking. Drawing from her own experience in overcoming adversity, she has provided meaningful support to her community through this program.
Garnering significant recognition for her achievements with Next Chapter, Mrs. Burton has been featured on the wall at Cross Purpose in acknowledgment of her community service and receives regular coverage from Channel 7 News in Denver. Additionally, she has appeared in online publications such as Impala Digital, Alignable and ColoradoGives while collaborating with a fundraising team, further highlighting her impact.
Education has played a transformative role in Mrs. Burton's life and career. Born in Chicago, she faced considerable challenges during her youth, including emancipation from the state of Illinois at age 14 and time spent in incarceration. Despite not completing school initially, she returned to her studies after serving her sentence, earning the General Educational Development (GED) credential before obtaining a bachelor's degree in business management and accounting in 2007. She regards her pursuit of education as her most significant achievement, crediting it as the foundation of her success and the driving force behind her professional accomplishments with The Next Chapter.
Mrs. Burton's decision to establish a nonprofit was inspired by both her own life experience and a desire to serve others facing obstacles such as substance use, homelessness and incarceration. Guided by instinct and faith, she built The Next Chapter Foundation with the support of a dedicated team who volunteered their time until the organization reached sustainability.
Reflecting on her storied journey to date, she is immensely grateful to her husband Marquell for strengthening her faith and reminding her of the importance of patience; her entire team at The Next Chapter for inspiring her to never give up on her dreams; and key mentors including Jason Janz, Halim Ali and Ken for their guidance and support.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Mrs. Burton is deeply committed to her family as the proud mother of nine sons. She cherishes spending time with her loved ones and remains focused on expanding the reach of The Next Chapter Foundation, with plans to bring its services back to her hometown Chicago where she believes they are greatly needed.
Throughout every stage of her life and career, Mrs. Burton's resilience, leadership and unwavering dedication have distinguished her as a prominent figure in community advocacy and mental health support as she continues to make a lasting impact on individuals and families in the greatest need of aid and empathy.
