Since 2007, he has served as the founder and chief executive officer of The DrillMaster, where he has dedicated his work to researching, teaching, writing, and preserving the standards of drill and ceremonies for military, first responder, veteran, cadet, and ceremonial organizations.

Over the past two decades, Mr. Marshall has shared his expertise through books, articles, videos, training programs, consultation, and hands-on instruction. His work has helped make complex ceremonial doctrine more accessible to those responsible for color guards, honor guards, military drill teams, funeral honors, public ceremonies, and competitive drill. His professional focus has remained consistent: to research, clarify, teach, and preserve standards so that ceremonial teams can perform with dignity, precision, and purpose.

In 2008, Mr. Marshall founded the World Drill Association, where he has served as chief executive officer and director of education. Through the organization, he developed educational programs and adjudication standards for military exhibition, regulation, and ceremonial drill, as well as related performance activities. His leadership also extended internationally through his work with the International Association of Exhibition Drillers, including service on its International Selection Committee beginning in 2008 and as director of contests from 2008 to 2017.

Mr. Marshall is also the founder of the Institute for Ceremonial Standards, an organization dedicated to developing, preserving, and teaching professional standards for drill and ceremonies, honor guard operations, color guard performance, ceremonial protocol, and related ceremonial disciplines.

Following his retirement from the United States Air Force in 2005, Mr. Marshall expanded his work nationwide, instructing law enforcement, fire service, emergency medical services professionals, military funeral honors teams, veteran organizations, and specialized ceremonial units. He has also taught cadet programs, including Junior ROTC, Sea Cadets, Civil Air Patrol units, Young Marines, Marine Cadets of Iowa, and law enforcement and firefighter explorer programs across the country.

Mr. Marshall's international work includes both adjudication and instruction. From 1986 to 1988, he served as a percussion judge for Drum Corps United Kingdom, marking the start of his international adjudication experience. He later served as visual caption head for Jong Leven Bazuinenkorps, or Trumpet Corps, from 1995 to 1998 and again from 2010 to 2011, guiding performance standards and visual instruction. He also served as a field percussion and visual judge for Drum Corps Holland and as a general effect visual judge for Color Guard Nederland.

His international instructional work includes teaching American exhibition drill in Qatar on two separate occasions, where he taught Police College and Police Training Institute personnel in the principles, structure, and performance standards of American-style exhibition drill.

Mr. Marshall's expertise was further demonstrated during his tenure with Cadet Corps, Inc. in Millersburg, Kentucky, in 2013 and 2014, where he served as drill master and dining facility manager. In that role, he contributed to cadet development, discipline, drill instruction, and daily operations. From 2005 to 2007, he worked as a marching instructor and drill writer for the Vanden High School marching band, teaching technical skills, discipline, performance quality, and ensemble coordination.

His earlier civilian leadership roles include serving as president of both Vanden High School Sober Grad Night and Vanden Viking Bingo Boosters, where he supported student programs and fundraising efforts. He also served as a visual judge for the Pacific Coast Judges Association, evaluating marching and visual performance with a critical eye shaped by decades of experience.

Mr. Marshall's professional journey began with a 20-year career in the United States Air Force. From 1998 to 2005, he served as an education and training manager, overseeing instructional programs and training systems. Prior to that role, he served as a reprographics specialist from 1985 to 1998, supporting mission requirements during assignments across Europe and Asia. His military career deepened his commitment to education, precision, standards, and ceremonial excellence.

Mr. Marshall's academic background includes studies toward a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary Christian studies with an emphasis in theology at Master's International University of Divinity. He also holds two associate degrees from the Community College of the Air Force, one in reprographics and one in training management, both awarded in 1999. These academic achievements have supported his long-standing work as an educator, writer, and training developer.

Mr. Marshall attributes his accomplishments to his faith in Jesus Christ, which has guided him through challenges and inspired his commitment to research, education, and service. His willingness to study deeply, apply understanding, and share expanded knowledge with others has set him apart as a thought leader in the field of drill and ceremonies.

Beyond his professional work, Mr. Marshall has been civically engaged as a board member of the Space Force Cadet Corps since 2023. He has also supported youth and student organizations through previous booster and fundraising leadership roles. He has been an active member of Disabled American Veterans since retiring from military service.

His contributions have been recognized with honors, including being commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in January 2024 and being selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who in America in 2026.

Growing up in Arizona, Mr. Marshall attended high school and participated in Air Force Junior ROTC before enrolling at New Mexico Military Institute for two years. He joined the United States Air Force in 1985 and completed a 20-year career before retiring in 2005. Following his wife Rebecca's completion of her own 20-year Air Force career as a nurse, they settled in Florida in 2011.

Born in Bethesda, Maryland, Mr. Marshall enjoys reading, writing, research, critiquing drill and ceremonies, spending time with his dogs, going on dates with his wife Rebecca, and visiting his grandchildren.

Looking ahead, Mr. Marshall intends to complete several additional books, including a volume on leadership examined through the lens of drill and ceremonies. His goal remains to strengthen the understanding of drill and ceremonies as foundational disciplines that build leadership, discipline, precision, accountability, and service beyond military careers.
