BERNVILLE, PA, July 13, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dennis T. Baver has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Baver's distinguished career in mechanical engineering spans four decades, marked by technical mastery, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to mentorship and innovation. Since 2025, he has served as a senior mechanical engineer at AED Energy Services (an ARG Company) in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. In this capacity, Mr. Baver plays a pivotal role in helping to establish an independent building MEP engineering services group within the company. The establishment of this group grew from demand for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and building utility engineering services to support midstream energy and chemical processing projects.
Among a range of responsibilities in his leading role, Mr. Baver is tasked with business development, engineering oversight of active projects, mentoring emerging professionals and laying the groundwork for the next generation of engineers. He is notably recognized for his expertise in cleanroom and controlled environment design and operations across biopharma, electronics manufacturing and healthcare sectors, as well as for his proficiency in HVAC systems design, analysis and optimization.
Before joining AED Energy Services, Mr. Baver was a senior mechanical engineer at STV in Douglassville, Pennsylvania, from 2023 to 2025. There, he led complex engineering projects and served as a primary mentor for younger engineers, guiding procedures and problem-solving strategies. Between 2021 and 2023, Mr. Baver held the position of director of MEP services at Acela Architects + Engineers PC in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He managed a eight-person mechanical, electrical, and plumbing group and oversaw all related projects. Although he excelled in this leadership role, he ultimately sought a return to more direct engineering engagement and complex problem-solving.
Between 2015 and 2021, Mr. Baver was the mechanical engineering manager for the facilities engineering group at Systems Design Engineering Inc., where he continued to refine his skills. His decade-long tenure from 2005 to 2015 as a senior mechanical engineer at Spotts, Stevens and McCoy (SSM) Group Inc. in Reading, Pennsylvania, was instrumental in shaping his specialization in high-performance buildings. During this period, Mr. Baver managed much of the firm's commercial work while mentoring junior staff members. He contributed to teams responsible for multiple award-winning projects, including several LEED certified buildings with two achieving Gold level, an achievement that underscored his commitment to sustainable design and practical innovation.
Mr. Baver's educational journey began with vocational training in architectural drafting during high school while pursuing a college preparatory curriculum. After completing two years of coursework as an architectural engineering major at Pennsylvania State University, financial constraints led him to leave school temporarily. However, Mr. Baver continued developing his drafting skills through employment at a sheet metal fabrication shop. Encouraged by a mentor to pursue HVAC design, he advanced from small commercial projects into industrial design while attending night classes during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
In 1997, Mr. Baver earned an associate degree in mechanical engineering technology from Pennsylvania State University, a milestone achieved while balancing work commitments, community service and family life. Rather than pursue additional years of night school for a bachelor's degree, he leveraged Pennsylvania's experience-based licensure provision to sit for the Fundamentals of Engineering exam after documenting 20 years of progressive experience. Passing the exam on his first attempt enabled Mr. Baver to take the professional engineering exam the following year, becoming a licensed professional engineer in 2003.
Further enhancing his credentials, Mr. Baver earned certification as a LEED-accredited professional in 2004. He also became a certified energy manager in 2007. These achievements have been instrumental in supporting his focus on high-performance building design and energy efficiency.
Mr. Baver maintains active memberships with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers and the Association of Energy Engineers. He values professional networking as a means of collaborative problem-solving rather than personal recognition. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Mr. Baver has made significant contributions to civic life through extensive volunteer service. He currently serves as the president of his local borough council after four years as a member. Among other involvements, Mr. Baver served as a school board director for eight years with the local school district, and also coached or assisted with coaching their bowling and baseball teams. Additionally, he coached bowling at a local center as a certified Young American Bowling Alliance coach, coached youth soccer with a local club, coached little league baseball, umpired high school and youth travel baseball, and served as both a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for his local Boy Scout troop.
Throughout his career, Mr. Baver has demonstrated an exceptional ability to apply emerging technologies to real-world challenges. Most notable was his participation on the team that engineered systems for a new high school in the Oxford School District in southeastern Pennsylvania. The district was challenged by insufficient electrical infrastructure to support the anticipated electrical demand of the proposed new high school and the estimated cost of upgrading that infrastructure would make the project economically infeasible. Mr. Baver had a significant role in the engineering of an off-peak thermal ice storage system that shifted chiller demand to evening hours when the existing infrastructure could support the demand. Due to the ability to limit demand during daytime hours the district was able to negotiate a reduced off-peak rate that provided significant energy cost savings. Additionally, since the utility was able to avoid a significant capitol improved, they provide a grant to the school district to help defray the additional cost for the thermal storage system.
Mr. Baver's community activism has been recognized with honors such as Citizen of the Year from the Bernville, PA Grange. He was also inducted into the Wall of Fame at Lauer's Park Elementary School in Reading, an accolade that included delivering an inspirational address to students overcoming the obstacles of an impoverished inter-city community and demonstrating strong academic performance. Mr. Baver attributes his success to unwavering persistence and commitment, qualities that have guided him through both professional challenges and personal milestones.
Throughout every phase of his career and public service, Mr. Baver remains guided by humility and purpose, supporting others through meaningful work while encouraging those around him to discover their own passions and create opportunities for themselves. Looking ahead, he is focused on developing the MEP Engineering business unit at AED Energy Services through establishing a sustainable mechanical engineering group prepared for long-term success under future leadership; a legacy intended to provide opportunity for others well beyond his own tenure.
